Last week I uploaded a post on my Beauty Highlights for 2012, listing the products that really impressed me this year. With that in mind, I figured I had to share the products that didn't quite impress me this year.
Much like my Beauty Highlights of 2012 post, I'm not going to write about each product because, well, I just think that could go on forever. Instead I'll link the text to reviews if I have them. If not, expect it in the future because they're definitely coming!
1. Bioderma Crealine H20. 2. LUSH Grease Lightning. 3. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat . 4. Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow. 5. Maybeline One by One mascara
Many of these products are cult favourite products (YSL Touche Eclat and Bioderma, anyone?) but they just haven't impressed me.
Whilst I am really impressed by Bioderma's Crealine H20, it broke me out something chronic (I'm talking blind pimples here). That was very disappointing, especially given the hype. LUSH's Grease Lightning did nothing to sooth blemishes and irritation, possibly making them worse. I had such high hopes for the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat and, after buying it, was very disappointed. I find that it gives me little to no coverage and rarely features in my skincare routine. When I heard that Maybelline released a couple of tinted Baby Lips I was over the moon, hoping they'd be our answer to America's coloured Baby Lips. The colour is almost non existent, however, I don't think they're anywhere near as moisturising as the original Baby Lips. Finally, Maybelline's One by One mascara was very underwhelming. I don't think it separated my eyelashes so they weren't One by One at all!
Whilst there are probably more products that disappointed this year, these were the five that came to mind. Were you disappointed by any beauty products this year? Comment below! I'd love to know what to stay clear of. Also, have you tried any of the products listed above? What do you think of them?

I've never tried the Lush product before, but on all other stances I completely agree with you. I just don't understand the hype sometimes.
ReplyDeleteGrease Lighting was just a mega flop for me. I have no idea why!
DeleteI totally agree. Sometimes we're so influenced by the hype around a product that we have unrealistic expectations for it. xx
Great post! I agree with you about the one by one mascara! I purchased it after hearing many beauty gurus RAVE about it, an I just did not enjoy it whatsoever. I just picked up the maybelline tinted babylips yesterday so I will have to see how that one works out for me.

One by One was just crazy. My lashes certainly didn't look One by One. It should be called One Big Clump! As for the Baby Lips, I recommend the Baby Lips Anti-Oxidant Berry to everyone I know. Definitely check it out. xx
DeleteI picked up the Touche Eclat because I saw it for $20 at a local chemist once, and loved using it as a highlighter just over my cheekbones. But once I saw the ACTUAL retail price, I immediately lost interest.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Cassie! It's insanely overpriced. To be honest, I don't even like it as a cheekbone highlight. x
DeleteI love Bioderma but I hate Baby Lips!

I find Bioderma to be totally overrated but then, I'm the only person I know that breaks out from it. It's bizarre. Oh how I love my Baby Lips! xx
DeleteI like the Baby Lips and One by One mascara! Baby lips added a tint of colour to my lips and the one by one mascara made my lashes fuller... Although having said that, I haven't really had a mascara not make my lashes fuller, as they are quite sparse and short.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Abigail! It's weird how products work differently on different people, isn't it? xx
