Best Beauty Brands of 2012!

December 31, 2012 | , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
With the new year fast approaching, I've created a series recapping the best and worse (well, in my opinion) of beauty products this year. So far I've uploaded my Beauty Highlights and Beauty Disappointments of 2012, but today I wanted to share my the brands that have really impressed me this year! For each brand I will also be listing my favourite product of the year because, well, I will!

I've been really impressed with Revlon over the past two years. Their cosmetics are always of a great standard, but their so overpriced here in Australia. Do you agree, Aussies girls? Whilst the Revlon Lip Butters were released in 2011/2012 in the US, they didn't come to Australia until April of this year. Those, along with the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, have been some of my favourite lip products of the year.

This year I've treated myself to more MAC than I should've. In 2012 I've been loving my MAC lipsticks. I have about 6 now and with the vouchers and money I received for Christmas, I'm sure I'll buy more. The MAC Holiday Kits were fantastic value and I absolutely love their contents, especially the Born to Love blush and In a Heartbeat Cremesheen Lipstick, both from the Devine Desire Face Kit in Quite Coral. As far as permanent products go, I absolutely love their Cremesheen lipstick in Creme Cup.

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know I've had the opportunity to try a lot of Essence cosmetics this year. Their products are very well priced and of a fantastic standard. Who's complaining? Out of all the collections/trend editions I've reviewed, the Colour Arts Trend Edition was by far my favourite. I also love the cream colour in the Via Airmail! kohl pencil from the Ready for Boarding Trend Edition!

Much like Essence, I've trialled many Ulta3 nail polishes this year. My nail polish collection has definitely grown this year! I absolutely love every nail polish from the Pretty Pastels Spring 2012 Collection. Each colour is absolutely fantastic and fantastic value, at only $2.00 each!

Urban Decay is such a great cosmetic brand! I really wish it was available in Australia because everyone should have a little UD in their lives. I know I said I'd list my favourite product for the year, but I can't decide between three; the Smoked 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil Set, All Nighter Setting Spray and Naked Palette (original).

Finally, there's LUSH. Need I continue? You all know how much I love LUSH and how much it's helped my skin. My whole LUSH Skincare Routine is definitely a favourite of mine, and not just for LUSH products! Other than that, however, I'm totally in love with LUSH's Rockstar Soap. It's amazing.

**The Essence and Ulta3 products were sent to me for review, however they were featured in this post as they are genuine favourites. I was completely honest.

Those are the six brands that I've totally fallen for this year. What about you? What brands have you fallen for? What are your favourite products from those brands?

Always look your best,
Sophie

  2. I love this post! I think Revlon comes up with some incredible products, but like you said they are a little bit overpriced here in Australia. I love Essence and Ulta too, mainly because they are so affordable but their products (usually) are of an excellent quality. Lush is also a wonderful brand, all their products are delicious! :)

    1. It's such a shame that Revlon is so overpriced in Australia, isn't it? So disappointing to hear how cheap it is in the US. The products are worth it though, unfortunately, so we're willing to spend it! Essence and Ulta3 are so well priced, yeah! Love Ulta3 nail polishes. As for LUSH - LUSH products have improved my skin beyond belief. xx
