LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask Review

In my ongoing pursuit for healthier skin, I have been making a conscious effort to use face masks at least once a week (I even have #FaceMaskFriday over on Instagram, if you want to pop over!). I rotate the masks I use quite frequently, mainly depending on my skin's needs, but I decided to take advantage of LUSH's recycling program (return five empty black LUSH pots in return for a free Fresh Face Mask) to pick up Catastrophe Cosmetic, a face mask I've used in the past and been really happy with.

The LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask is a blueberry based mask. Along with blueberries which act as a natural antioxidant, it also contains an array of other vitamins and minerals which are intended to reduce and inflammation and act as a mild antiseptic - something I certainly look for to aid in my break outs!

As the name suggests, LUSH Fresh Face Masks are made with fresh ingredients and, as such, have a short shelf life. It is recommended that they are stored in the fridge to ensure they stay as fresh as possible and LUSH says they'll last about three weeks, though I've had them longer before and it's still been fine.

Given that it's pulled out the fridge, the LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask is so refreshing well applied! It has a thick typical face mask consistency with small chunks of blueberry adding texture to it. It doesn't apply well with a paddle foundation brush (I often apply my face masks this way) but works really nicely when applied with the fingers. The mask sets to a typical clay mask type feel after 10 + minutes and washes away really nicely with warm water and a flannel.

The LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask is lovely. It leaves my skin feeling super clean, exactly what I want after washing off a face mask, but not stripped. I feel like it leaves my skin looking really bright and fresh, so it might  also be a great addition to a skincare routine before a big event. This mask doesn't seem to dry my skin out, though I probably wouldn't recommend it for dry skin, and my blemishes seemed to be a lot less irritated after application.

All in all, I would totally recommend the LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask and it's definitely one I can see myself repurchasing. It retails for $16.95 which I think is a pretty affordable price point, as is pretty accessible.

What face mask do I need to try next? Is there one you'd like to see featured in a #FaceMaskFriday post?
