FESTIVE FACE OF THE DAY

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. I love how everything's festive and everyone's got a bit more spring in their step (probably 'cos they've got a break from work over Christmas). Even though my Face of the Day posts aren't that popular (they don't do too well in terms of views), I wanted to show you this festive look that I came up with, especially for those who're stuck for what to wear Christmas Day.

I'm no make up artist but keep reading to see what I created with these products!

My base is a combination of my favourite primer, Hourglass' Veil Mineral Primer, and L'Oreal's Infallible 24HR Stay Fresh Foundation, a trusty duo that's going to last all day and/or night! I concealed any redness or discolouration with the Urban Decay Naked Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer and brightened up my inner corders and under the eyes with the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye in Light. Lastly for my face, I set everything with the MAC Blot Pressed Powder in Light, partly because I'm trying to use it up and partly because it keeps me matte all day long!

I pulled out my Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette for my face, using the warmest contour shade to bronze up the face (Shadoplay), the coolest to contour (Sombre) and the banana shade (Lyric) to brighten up under my eyes! To brighten up my cheeks I used a new favourite blush, the Essence Powder Blush in #01 You Can Stand Under My Umbrella, and Urban Decay's Afterglow Powder Highlight in Sin

As almost always, my brows are a combination of ColourPop's Brow Pencil in Dope Taupe and Chi Chi's Fibre Brow in Taupe. They're a bit unruly in these photos but, rest assured, they've been tended to now!

To prime my lids and even out pigmentation I used the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden and followed up with a selection of shades from the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Palette to warm up my crease and deepen up the outer corner. To add the Christmas spirit, I primed the untouched part of the lid with Too Faced's Glitter Glue and followed up with their Glamour Dust in Nude Beam. It's not Christmas without glitter, am I right? I decided to pass on eyeliner so finished off the eye look with Sephora's Outrageous Curl Mascara.

Last, but certainly not least, we have lips and it's not Christmas if it's not a red lip. I decided to pull out my favourite red lip, Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm in The Redder The Better*. As you can probably see, I struggled to get the perfect lip line, however I forgave it because I love the colour so much and the formula is second to none.

Although this look is something that I'd be likely to wear anytime of the year, the red lip is soo out of my comfort zone and something I'm only brave enough to rock at this time of year. I really like it in photos but I just feel so weird when I wear one. What do you think? Let me know!

What's your go to Christmas look? Do you rock a red lip better than I do?
