Skincare Routine: Make Up Removal and Evening

Like I said in my Morning Routine, my skin is temperamental; It's oily, blemish prone and very sensitive. It's a challenge but lately I've found a skincare routine that's been working so I wanted to share that with you all. I didn't want my skincare routine post to be super long so I've split it into two; a morning routine and an evening routine.

It's time for my evening routine so let's get into it!

I didn't take the photos below to track a transformation. In fact, they're both 'before' photos from different Face of the Day posts here on the blog. The photos were only taken a few weeks apart so I wanted to use them to show you the change in my skin over just a few weeks. I don't know what combination of products is helping to calm and sooth but I'm not complaining.

Normally I've got a full face of make up on at the end of the day so the first thing I do is remove that. I've tried a few make up removers over the past few years but I always go back to my tried and tested favourite, MAC's Cleanse Off Oil. This is a product that I'm trying to find a cruelty free alternative for but, until I do, this is what I'll continue to use.

As my second cleanse I use the same product that I use in them morning, Korres Milk Proteins Foaming Cream Cleanser. As I said in my morning routine, I love how effective, yet gentle, this product is!

After cleansing I go in with a NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pad, running it over my whole face and down my neck. As the name suggests, these pads contain glycolic acid and they are a super gentle chemical exfoliant that my skin really agrees with.

I don't do this next step every day but if I'm feeling particularly spotty or wanting to give my skin a treat I'll then give myself a good misting of La Roche Posay's Serozinc. This is one of those products that I bought because it was super hyped up in the beauty world and, whether it works or not, I'm just going to use it!

After toning, it's time to treat my skin issues and for that I have two different routines.

Option One: A new addition to my skincare routine is the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion* and this is one of the products I really need to thank when it comes to the improvement in my skin! I apply this and then follow up with the MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Essence Serum to add some much needed moisture back into the skin. This is a super lightweight serum that skins into the skin really quickly, leaving it feel plump and hydrated! Just like my morning routine, I finish this off the routine by applying MAC's Lightful Marine Bright Moisture Creme with a drop of the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light to seal everything into place.

Option Two: Before the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion* I was obsessed with Sunday Riley's Good Genes Treatment and I still love it. They're both chemical exfoliants so I don't use them together. Generally I'll use the Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion* every night and then amp it up once or twice a week with the Sunday Riley Treatment. If I'm using that I'll first apply the MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Essence Serum, follow up with Sunday Riley's Good Genes Treatment and then leave things there.

If I've got a spot, I apply some of the Paula's Choice Resist 25% Vitamin C Spot Treatment. I got this in a Marie Claire The Parcel box in December and I've repurchased it twice since then, with my third on its way to me currently. This product is amazing and so worth the price tag, in my opinion.

Last but certainly not least I go in with the Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I'm almost out of this eye cream and looking to try something different next time so please leave your recommendations below!

That's it, that's my nighttime routine. Written out it seems super excessive but it's not, I promise! All of these products are tried and true staples and that includes the ones exclusively in my Morning Routine. If you'd like to see reviews of specific products, let me know and I'll make it happen!
