A few weeks ago I was at work wearing a gold glittery eye when my colleague told me my eyeshadow was sparkling like the sand on a deserted island in the Whitsundays. Needless to say, I was suitably stoked with the compliment and decided to recreate the look to share here on the blog!
To see the look I created with these products, keep reading!
For my base I primed with the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and then went in with NARS' All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. To even things out I followed that combo up with the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer to conceal my under eye darkness and the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer on excess redness. I set my under eye are with Lyric from the Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette to brighten things up and then set the rest of the face with Face of Australia's Translucent Loose Powder.
Because I was lazy and it was already out, I used Shadowplay from the Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette to warm up the perimeters of my face and then contoured with Sombre, the ashiest contour powder in the palette. For some reason I haven't included it in the product picture, but the blush I used was Hervana from Benefit Cosmetics.
To fill in my brows I used my fave brow pencil of the moment, ColourPop's Brow Pencil in Dope Taupe, and set it with Chi Chi's Fibre Brow in Taupe.
To prime my eyes I used MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, as usual, and set it with the matte beige shade in the Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette. To warm up the crease I used the mid toned tan shade from the Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette. To enhance the effect of the colour I was putting on top, I applied Australis' Metallix Eyeshadow in Bronzonce* (now called Gold Gaga) all over the mobile lid and then I set it with the gold shimmer shade from the Smashbox palette. Lastly, to deepen the look up I worked the two dark matte shades from the palette into the outer corner until I was happy with the look.
I really love how mascara can make an eye look so I applied a generous amount of Maybelline's Colossal Go Extreme Leather Black Mascara to my upper lashes, whilst my lower lashes got a coat of MAC's Extended Play Gigablack Lash.
For this look I wanted a lip colour that wouldn't overpower the daytime sparkly eye so I went for a combination of my Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk and Essence Happy Girls Are Pretty Lip Balm in #01 Pretty You.
For the record, I have been using this limited edition lip balm from Essence for well over two months now and I had NO idea that was the name of the collection it was from. I think that's a bit offensive so, trust me, I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known.
That's the look. It's nothing elaborate but I do think it's really pretty and I love how the gold makes my blue/green eyes pop. It's also super easy so it's become a bit of a go to look when I was a bit of daytime glam in my life.
