Monthly Beauty Favourites | December, 2015

December had some real highs and lows for me so, I gotta say, I'm pretty glad that it's over. I launched Blogmas in mid December and intended on uploading every day until Christmas but my body had other ideas and I ended up with two small fractures in my back ribs which put a dampener on that idea. I also got a cold so constantly coughing has really helped with that pain - not! I'm so disappointed that I couldn't get the posts up for you, especially as I was proud with the photos we took, but the content is coming either way so it wasn't a complete fail! My pain is improving every day but and I'll be back to normal soon!

Christmas at my place was great. I absolutely adore Christmas. I love giving gifts and it was amazing to watch people open presents I'd bought for them, especially my nephews. There's something great about spending Christmas with little ones, isn't there?

That's probably enough for the life update portion of today's post, don't you think? Let's talk beauty!

If you follow me on Instagram you may already know this but I lightened my hair quite a bit in mid November so December was all about improving the condition of my hair and ensuring that it remained healthy. Shu Uemura Art of Hair products are some of my all time favourites so it's no real shock that I've been loving two this month!

I picked up their Moisture Velvet Nourishing Treatment the day after dyeing my hair and I've used it almost every time I've washed it since. I use it in place of a conditioner, brush it through using my Wet Brush and leave it in as long as possible. When I get out of the shower, I brush my hair through with my Gold Rush Tangle Teezer and run their Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Duo Serum through the mid lengths and ends. Whilst the condition of my hair deteriorated slightly while my back was at its worse as I couldn't care for it properly, this really is a winning combination and I adore all the products both together and individually.

I sold my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette a while ago as I didn't really use it, however I missed having a soft plum shade like Mood Exposure in my collection after doing so. To make up for it I picked up Max Factor's Cream Puff Blush in Nude Mauve in Priceline's 40% off Cosmetics Sale and I've been loving it ever since. It's a similar shade and is just as easy to apply and wear.

Something came over me recently and I snatched up the Stila Eternal Love Liquid Lipstick Set from in late November and I am in love with the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci. Liquid lipsticks with a matte finish aren't overly comfortable to me but the lilac pink mauve shade called my name and the formula wasn't an issue anymore. I don't really care for the other two shades but the kit was worth it for this colour alone and I'm quite disappointed that they don't sell it individually. I believe that ColourPop's Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Trap is similar in colour so I've just ordered that and I'll report back.

I definitely go through phases with eyeliner but I'm loving it at the moment and my favourite has to be the Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Liner. The point is so precise so you can get product exactly where you want it. It also sets nicely but gives you enough time to blend it out if you'd like, which is what I've been doing lately. I dug out another sample of my Benefit They're Real Mascara this month also and it's definitely as lovely as I remembered. The formula is great and the brush creates such a gorgeous look.

I rediscovered Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck fragrance this month and forgot how much I liked it. I keep a rollerball of this in my handbag for stinky emergencies and, with the weather being horrendous here in Perth, I've been wearing it a lot so I know I have the touch up in my bag if things get sweaty and stinky during the day. Does anyone else do this? I sure hope so!

What were you loving? How was your December/Christmas?

  1. I have the same Stila set and I am obsessed with Baci! It is definitely my favourite shade and I wear it all the time. I wish they sold it separately as well!
