Monthly Beauty Favourites | September - November, 2015

It's been so long since I've sat down to write a monthly beauty favourites. So many products have entered the daily beauty rotation and a few have left too, so deciding what was going to make the cut and featured was no easy task. In the end I think I did a relatively good job of refining the list to a long, yet manageable, amount of products.

We've got a lot to get through so let's get into it.

I went on a bit of a rampage when Makeup Geek released their new matte shades, picking up a bunch of them plus a few original shades and a couple of their more recent Duo Chrome releases. I had enough new shades to fill a second Z Palette so I took the oppoprtunity to arrange them a bit better; now I have a palette of shimmers/Duo Chromes/Foiled shades and a matte palette! All of the shades don't disappointed, as expected, and they're beautiful.

I grabbed another tube of Max Factor's Masterpiece Transform Mascara in the Priceline 40% off cosmetics sale and I couldn't resist opening it, even though my back up mascara drawer is so full! This mascara gives a dark, dramatic and voluminous look to the lashes without looking clumpy or like it's 'too much'.

Chi Chi's Brow Pomade made its way around the beauty community when it was released a few months ago and, after spending far too long trying to track it down, I managed to pick it up in Taupe and I've been loving it ever since. It is a much better colour match and I love the effect it gives. There are a lot of different brushes that I have tried the Brow Pomade with and my favourite has to be Poni Cosmetics' Brow Brush*. This brush has a great spoolie on one end and the other has a angled synthetic brush that's the perfect size to apply the product.

Lastly for brows, I've been playing with Model Co's More Brows Brow Thickening Gel in Light to Medium lately. I picked it up as I heard it was a great dupe for Benefit's Gimme Brow and I'd say that's pretty spot on. It has a more subtle effect but overall it's very similar.

bareMinerals' Powder Brightener in Well Rested has been in and out of my make up rotation for a couple of years now but I'm having another love affair with it at the moment. It's a yellow toned loose powder that's extremely brightening and I love setting my under eye concealer with it. It can sometimes be easy to go too far with it, but a little goes a long way with a fluffy brush!

Also for the face, I was gifted MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade by a great friend of mine and I am loving it! Highlighters are something that I used to stay away from as I just couldn't understand how they'd look good on my combination oily skin, but this, along with a few others, has really changed my mind.

Bright blushes are my jam at the moment and my favourite is the Too Faced's Love Flush Long Lasting 16 Hour Blush in Justify My Love, a bright pink  blush with a gold shimmer running through it. I love how it pops on my cheeks and it really works well with any make up look, providing there's not too much colour going on anywhere else. It's a great Spring/Summer product.

There's only a few left, I promise!

I reviewed the NS-5 Cuticle & Nail Complex* just days ago, but I feel the need to mention it again as it really is a miracle worker. This product has done really great things in improving the condition of my nails and cuticles and it's a staple in my nighttime routine.

Recently I cashed in six empty MAC products for their Patisserie Lipstick as part of their BACK2MAC Program and I cannot believe how quickly it's become my 'go to' lipstick. MAC describes is as a sheer creamy neutral pink and I'd tend to agree. It's so comfortable on the lips and looks great with any eye look!

That was a giant favourites post, I know, but there's just so much I wanted to tell y'all about. I probably could've thought of more too, but I had to draw a line somewhere!

Also, if you'd like to see a post all about my Makeup Geek obsessions, let me know!

What have you been loving?

  2. Absolutely love MUG shadows, I really want to get my hands on some of the new duochromes! I also really want to try the Chi Chi brow pomade. A great budget alternative to Anastasia's it seems.
