July and August were really kind to me. As I mentioned, it was my birthday in July and I had a really nice day with friends and family. I also celebrated later in the month with all of my favourite people and I couldn't ask for much more than that. Not only that, but the first ever Blogger United event was Perth in Perth in mid-August. As I mentioned in this life update post, I was part of the team who organised the event which explains why I've been so MIA. The event is over and I'm back with a vengeance but, if you want to know more about the day, check out my posts about the day here and here.
Over the past two months I've made some beauty discoveries, old and new. I pulled a few bits out of my own collection and I also have some
There was so much hype surrounding the release of the L'Oreal Infallible 24H - Matte Foundation and I'm pleased to report that it hasn't let me down. This foundation has a thicker tetxture than I anticipated but it's really light on the skin and it provides really nice coverage. It has a matte finish, as the name suggests, but it's too flat on the skin and, as expected, it has great lasting power!
Also for face make up, I've been using bareMinerals' Concealer in Well Rested to set my under eye concealer on and off for two(ish) years now and I'm having another love affair with it at the moment. I buff this on with a fluffy eyeshadow brush and not only does it add coverage to the area, it also has slight light reflecting properties that really brighten up the area.
In terms of skincare, I've been really loving Sunday Riley's Good Genes. My skin has been really unpredictable; it was super clear until I got a cold about a month ago and it's been awful ever since. Before that, I attributed all of the improvement to this product (which I used every night) but now I'm not sure.
I've had another love affair with Make Up Geek eyeshadows over the past few months. I picked up a handful of their Foiled Eyeshadows a while ago and they've been some of the other eyeshadows I have reached for since I received them. The shine is incredible, the texture is amazing and, of course, the lasting powder is second to none. Depending on what look I'm creating, I've also found that I reach for their individual matte eyeshadow in Peach Smoothie as my transition shade for absolutely any look.
Maybelline released a crazy amount of new products at the end of June, one of them being their Volum' Express Lash Sensational Mascara. I picked it up, as you can see in this post, and I've been loving using it ever since. I gave it a neutral rating in that post, whereas now I'm really in love with it. The mascara gives the look of defined, dark and dramatic lashes all at the same time. The look is quite similar to that of Benefit's Roller Lash but for a much smaller price tag. Seriously, I'd highly recommend it if you're after a new mascara.
Lastly, let's talk brows. I've been experimenting with hair colours lately, as you may have seen on Instagram etc, and I'm wanting to transition to a lighter hair colour, meaning that I needed a more natural brow. Sometime in June/July I headed to Mecca with the intention of picking up Hourglass' Brow Arch Pencil, yet I walked away with Kevyn Aucoin's Precision Brow Pencil in Brunette. This, in combination with Benefit's Gimme Brow in Light/Medium, gives me the exact brow look I was after.
Given that I'm talking about two months worth of beauty loves, there's probably so many more products that I could talk about but these are the ones that stood out to me when I was raiding through my collection in preparation for this post.
