BRAND FOCUS: NARS

There are so many incredible make up brands on the market (am I right?) so I decided to create a new series where we take a look at a new brand in more detail. I'm starting with an all round favourite, NARS.

Never have I met someone that doesn't like NARS. Sure, they might not like a specific product, but there's something really redeeming about the brand as a whole. The brand is great. Their packaging is oh-so-classy and the products are of a great quality. Sure, the price point could be better but, hey, it's worth it!

NARS is a cosmetics and skincare company that was founded by Francois Nars, as we know, in 1996. The range started off with twelve lipsticks they now have an incredible range make up and skincare. NARS' Powder Blush in Orgasm, a cult classic, is one of their best selling products, winning Best Blush from Sephora for 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Now let's get into the products I love to love and love to hate. Two NARS foundations have impressed me. Sheer Glow is an amazing foundation that's beloved in the beauty community. It has amazing coverage and works well on combination/oily skin, regardless of the fact that it claims to be dewy in finish. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with newest foundation release, the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. It really impressed me when I first picked it up, as you can see in the review, but more recently it hasn't looked so great on me.

While we're talking coverage, let's look at their Radiant Creamy Concealer. This concealer is great. It has nice coverage and a natural finish; not too dewy and not too matte. Whilst it works well on blemishes, it's a real standout product for under the eyes, brightening and correcting dark circles.

My all time favourite NARS product would have to be their Powder Bronzer in Laguna. I've been through two whole compacts and now I'm working my way through the one in the Virtual Domination Cheek Palette (bottom right of photos) that I picked up last holiday season. Orgasm is nice powder blush but it's not my favourite, though I do love the blushes in the Virtual Domination Palette also.

For eyes, I really like their Dual Intensity Eyeshadows. The wet or dry formula is extremely pigmented. They all have a metallic or shimmer finish to them, regardless of how they're applied, but the colour and intensity can really be amped up when applied with a damp brush. Also on eyes, I've tried their original eyeshadow formula, however, and it didn't really impress. If NARS eyeshadows are what you're after, the Dual Intensity Eyeshadows really are the way to go!

Lastly, let's look at lips. I have four NARS lipsticks in two different formulas; their original lipsticks and their Audacious lipsticks. The original lipsticks are somewhat of a lip butter. Both of the colours I have, Roman Holiday and Cruising, are quite sheer in pigmentation and hydrating in formula. I believe there's three formulas so maybe both of the shades I have are in the same formula though. On the other end of the spectrum, NARS' Audacious Lipsticks really pack a punch. Again, I have two shades, Raquel and Natalia, they both have incredible pigmentation, great lasting power and are really comfortable to wear. If someone was looking at getting a lipstick from NARS, I'd definitely recommend they look for a shade in the Audacious range.

An honourable mention goes to NARS' Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. I don't own this primer any longer but it's a great primer. Not only does it prevent creasing and prolong the wear of eyeshadow, it's also one that's highly recommended by people with very oily eyelids.

As you can see from this, I'm really impressed with so many of NARS' products.  There are some really winners in my NARS collection and I'm sure they have so many more great products that I've not yet tried. There's also probably so many that I've failed to mention today.

If you're a NARS lover or hater, comment below and tell me why!
