What I Got For My Birthday This Year

If you don't follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you might not know but it was my birthday last Wednesday, on July 8. I turned 23 and I had a great day, for those who're wondering. I celebrated on Saturday night which was a great night also! 

Given that quite a few of my presents were beauty related, I thought I'd show you some of the gifts I was lucky enough to receive. 

First off, let's look at the make up. Most of this was selected by myself. I had a friend who kindly bought me the Urban Decay Naked Palette which, unfortunately, I already owned so she asked me to take it back and get store credit. I also spent basically all of the money I was given for my birthday. 

The lovely girls at my local MAC counter gifted me two lipsticks, Hot Gossip and Lady Danger. You know you're a regular at a make up counter when the girls there know your name and birthday! The couple who bought me the Naked palette also kindly bought me a NARS Audacious Lipstick in Natalie, a medium toned coral that is absolutely beautiful. 

The rest of these products were chosen by myself from Mecca Maxima, as I mentioned. There is only one Mecca Maxima in Perth and I haven't been since Urban Decay became available in Australia so naturally that was my first stop. The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette was an all time favourite of mine but I dropped it earlier this year and it didn't survive. I picked up a replacement because it really was a basic in my collection! I've heard great things about their new Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blushes so I decided to give them a shot, choosing Obsessed which is a total Sophie shade! Lip pencils are my 'thing' at the moment so I decided to give their 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Turn On a shot. The Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipsticks have never really appealed to me but I fell in love with the shade Sheer Shame so I picked that up too!

I've been looking at the Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Liner for quite some time now so I used my birthday as an excuse to buy it. I picked up the mini, rather than the three pack, in case I don't like it. I decided to grab the Too Faced 24 Hour Shadow Primer Duo. This has samples of two of their lid primers, the original and the champagne shade, and I mainly got it for the tinted one. The GlamGlow Youthmud Mask didn't really impress me last time I gave it a shot but I decided to pick up a mini size and give it another shot so I also bought that.

I was given a Dymocks gift voucher so I added a bit of my own money and decided to get two books by YouTubers, Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter by Louise Pentland and Glam Guide by Fleur de Force. Both of these books have been on my wish list for a while so I decided my birthday was a good excuse to buy both.

Two of my best friend got me a ticket to The Lion King and I can't wait to see it with them later this year! 

And that's just some of the gifts I was given for my birthday. I was also given some items that are quite personal or sentimental so I've decided not to share them. I am so grateful for every gift that I received for my birthday this year and would like to thank everyone for their birthday wishes over all of my social media!
