NEW PRODUCTS FROM MAYBELLINE | Haul, First Impressions and FOTD

If you stalk the make up displays in your local Priceline (much like myself), you may have noticed that Maybelline's has been redone to accommodate for a selection of new products. Some of these products have been in the US for quite some time and we, here in Australia, wondered if they'd ever grace our shores. Other are just starting to be featured by international bloggers and vloggers which leads me to believe that maybe, just made, we received some of these products that the same time that they did.

I was beyond excited when I realised these products hit our shelves, and even more excited when I found out that a Priceline on my way home was now selling the new bits 'n' pieces. Naturally I made my way to the store that day after work and bought way too many new products to play with.

Instead of doing a haul like I normally do, I thought I'd do a haul and first impressions post in one. On Sunday I put all the products to the test and headed out to a family barbecue. If you want to see what I thought on first application, keep reading!

WARNING: This photo is very photo heavy

First off, let's talk about what I picked up. Priceline was having a 3 for 2 sale on Maybelline (perfect timing, I know) so I took the opportunity to completely stock up. Yes, I was that asshole that asked for it to be put through as three separate transactions but I'm not even sorry.

Hyper Sharp Wing Liquid Eyeliner // $16.95
Rebel Bloom Colour Sensational Lipstick in #730 Orchid Ecstasy // $16.95
Master Sculpt Contouring Palette in #02 Medium // $19.95
The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette // $25.95
Rebel Bloom Colour Sensational Lipstick in #725 Lilac Flush // $16.95
Baby Lips Candy Wow in Peach Lollipop // $6.95
Volum' Express Lash Sensational Mascara // $21.95
Dr Rescue Gel Effect Top Coat // $6.95
I also grabbed another bottle of the Maybelline Express Remover because it's an all time favourite

Now let's get into what I thought of every product. I've taken close ups of the products, as well how they looked once applied, and I'll talk you through the application process!

Base and brows are already done because I didn't have any new products to test.

I was quite light handed with the Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring Palette in #02 Medium because I didn't know how pigmented it'd be or how it would blend out. To be honest, this product really impressed me! The contour shade is lovely. Sure it could be a bit more ashy in tone, but it's definitely not too warm and it's the best 'drugstore' style contour product I've seen. You can't see it in the photo but the highlight is lovely too. It doesn't have the overly shimmery/chunky look that many affordable highlighting products can have.

The Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring Palette in #02 Medium applied nicely and blended out beautifully. It'll be a product I continue to reach for and I'm so glad we finally have an affordable contouring product on the market!

Next up, it's eyeshadow time! Maybelline's The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette has received mixed results in the beauty community so I was really excited to give it a go. If you're wondering what I'm wearing, I'm wearing the first colour on the inner corner, the gold (second row, third from the left) on the middle of the lid, the fifth show from the top row in my crease and used the second shade in the bottom row to define the outer corner.

These eyeshadows are nice but they're not amazing. They're not as pigmented as other eyeshadows in my collection and applied a little bit patchy, as you may  have seen in the photos above. With all that said though, they're not terrible and I think it's a good affordable palette for anyone who's wanting a selection of nude shadows in one place.

I absolutely knew I had to had the Hyper Sharp Wing Liquid Eyeliner when I played with the tester in store. The liner has a super unique shape; it's flat and wide, meaning you can really customise the way your liner looks. Given that I didn't know how it would apply, I opted for a basic thin line to just define my lashes. I'm so happy with how this applied. It was so smooth, wore really nicely and it's definitely going to be a staple in my routine.

Maybelline mascaras a bit hit 'n' miss for me so I took a bit of a risk by grabbing the Volum' Express Lash Sensational Mascara. For me, this was neither a win nor a fail. It applied nice and clump free, as you can see from the photos above, but it didn't wear me. This is one of those mascaras that I think will be a 'go to', purely because it doesn't take much thought to apply, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the formula changes as it dries! My lower lashes are very long so much mascaras transfer under my eyes and make a total mess but I'm happy to report that this one didn't!

Because lip products are my weakness and I have zero self control, I picked up three lip products. All three are really different so I thought it would be a good idea to show you how all three looked on. In the past I've made no secret of my love for the Baby Lips lip balm so I was really interested to see how their lip crayon was. I grabbed the Baby Lips Candy Wow in Peach Lollipop which is a peach colour, as the name suggests, and it's absolutely beautiful! It has more pigmentation than I expected and, as you can see, the peachy colour is stunning. I've already fallen in love with this colour.

The whole Rebel Bloom Lipstick Collection is absolutely stunning so I'm pretty proud that I only picked up two colours, #725 Lilac Flush and #730 Orchid Ecstasy. Lilac Flush is the middle lip photo and, as you can see, it is a pink toned lavender shade that I am hoping will be a good dupe for my favourite limited edition shade from MAC, Dodgy Girl. It's super creamy so took a little bit of work to apply, and I ended up blending it in with my finger, but I can see I'm going to love the colour. I applied all three lipsticks for the photos but wore Orchid Ecstasy throughout the day. This is a magenta shade with blue undertones and it kind of reminds me of a more pink version of MAC's Rebel. This colour applied a lot more smoothly and lasted about three hours before fading evenly. Both lipsticks had a cream finish and were very comfortable.

So that's everything new that I've picked up from Maybelline lately! The new releases also include the Matte + Poreless Fit Me! Foundation and Baby Skin Primer, as well as a few other things I'm sure I've forgotten. As for the Dr Rescue Gel Effect Top Coat, I have just applied it for the first time. I applies nicely and looks glossy, but we'll have to see how well it wears!

If you're looking to pick up a few of the new bits, I'd highly recommend the Hyper Sharp Wing Liquid Eyeliner and all of the lip products I've mentioned. I'm still playing with the Master Sculpt Contouring Palette but I think it's a winner but I'd maybe skip The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette and opt for a few L'oreal COlour Riche shadows instead, but that's just me.

What's first on your hit list?
