May was pretty good to me. Apart from spending the last few days of May/start of June in bed with a sinus infection, it was a pretty good month. It was actually pretty eventful too, now that I think about it. I saw Wicked for the second time, Ricky Martin Live and Pitch Perfect 2 more than once (such a good more, amiright?). Before you ask, yes; Ricky Martin did shake his bon bon and I loved every second of it.
It's been a pretty good make up month too, to be honest. I've discovered a few winning products and found alternative uses for existing products in my collection. I even found something that cures the post sickness dry nose!
I bought the Models Prefer Airbrush Buffing Brush back in March when Priceline had their 40% off make up sale (haul here) and I absolutely love it. It buffs foundation into the skin so nice and I'm yet to find a foundation that it doesn't work well with. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I picked up another one in a recent three for two promotion.
Lately I've been setting my face with my MAC Studio Fix Pressed Powder and really loving the results. For so long I'd been gravitating towards translucent pressed powders designed to mattifying the skin but I really love the additional coverage this gives! I think I'll go back to a mattifying powder in the warmer months, but this is great for this time of year!
I'm in the process of lightening my hair, wanting to end up being a dirty ash blonde kind of colour, which means I've made a few adjustments to the brow products I use. At the moment I'm using the same product pencil I was previously (Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Skinny Brow Pencil in Caramel) but I've been using either the Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium or L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper in #02 Blonde to lighten things up and change the tone.
My love of the Australis Metallix Eyeshadows* is so real. They're an absolutely amazing that I'm so glad I can rave about because they're finally a permanent product. Huzzah! In case you're wondering, here's one look I created using Gold Gaga.
I made two lip discoveries that I really want to share with y'all. I picked up two of the Clinique Lip Pops in May, Nude Pop and Fab Pop (haul here). They're both beautiful shades and I'm loving the formula, but I've been finding myself gravitating towards Nude Pop a bit more. Nude Pop is a warm nude shade that has just enough pink to be beautiful and wearable. I also picked up the NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu when I was feeling unwell and looking for an easy lip option. Tiramisu is a 'my lips but better shade' that's quite similar to the colour of Nude Pop, but it has that great NYX Butter Gloss formula that I absolutely love.
My last beauty discovery for the month was LUSH's Ultrabalm. I've been unwell, as I mentioned, and in a moment of desperation I popped into LUSH to see if they had anything to help my super dry and over blown nose. Admit it, you all know the feels. I've never been a fan of Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment but the sales assistant explained Ultrabalm to me as being LUSH's alternative so I decided to give it a shot. Fast forward three days and my nose was completely healed after regular application. If you're not well, I cannot recommend it enough!
And those are my monthly favourites! Every month I think I'm not going to be able to think of anything to post about and nekminit I've written a super long post. Sorry! I think there are some real gems in this post but so I highly urge you to check 'em out.
