FOTD // My Workplace Face That Always Get Compliments

I don't have a lot of time in the morning on a weekday. I get up at 5.30am and I'm out the door by 6.40am at the latest, leaving me with just over an hour to be fully ready at out the door. Before you ask, yes, it's brutal! With such a short amount of time to get ready, I opt for fairly basic looks that will still make me look presentable but also last 10+ hours. Not too much to ask for, right?

There are a few looks that I tend to rotate but this shimmery gold eye is an absolute favourite. I receive compliments whenever I wear this look too, which is always a bonus, so I often wear it when I want a bit of a pick me up.

I've been wanting to share at least one of my 'go to' work looks with you all for a while now but my morning schedule doesn't leave me with much time to whip out my camera and take a few photos. On Monday, however, I left a bit later to get to a work meeting so I was able to get these snaps!

To see what look I created with these products, keep reading.

I started the look off like I do so many, by priming with the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Next up, I went in with the L'Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Foundation which I'll be reviewing on Friday, if you're interested. I was pretty high maintenance with my concealers, using a total of three. I used a combination of MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Concealer (both not featured in the image above) on my under eye area.  To brighten everything up I drew a triangle of the MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Light Boost on my direct inner corner (facing down from the tear duct) and patted it in. Lastly for the face, I set everything in place with MAC's Studio Fix Pressed Powder (not featured in the image above).

To add more colour to my cheeks I did what I always do, buffed NARS' Laguna Bronzer around the perimeters of my face. Anastasia Beverly Hills' Contour Palette was also used to highlight and contour (Banana under the eyes and Java to contour). For blush I used my beloved Illamasqua Powder Blush in Tremble; it's a beautiful pink coral that makes any look pop!

My favourite eye primer is the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly so of course that's what I used to prime my lids. As a base for the colour I was going in later, I followed that up with the Australis AC/ME Metallic Eyeshadow in Bronzone, now known as the Australis Metallix Eyeshadow in Gold Gaga. I used a combination of Make Up Geek's Beaches and Cream and Peach Smoothie as a transition shade and buffed it into the crease. For my lid colour I pulled out Stila's In The Light Eyeshadow Palette. My all over lid colour was a beautiful gold shade named Bubbly, with Kitten used as an inner corner highlight. For a little extra dimension, I also buffed a mixture of Sandstone and Gilded Gold onto the outer corner, buffing that into my lower lash line also. Finally, to brighten everything up I ran the MAC Chromographic Pencil in NC15/NW20 onto my waterline.

Benefit Cosmetics' Roller Lash Mascara has super impressed me lately so, naturally, that's what I used on my upper lashes. I was a total lash princess and I used a different mascara on my lower lash line, the MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara.

Without fail, my work lip is almost always the 'all time favourite wearable lip' look that I posted about recently, a combination of Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk and MAC's Lipstick in Angel

The look over nine hours later - Lasted pretty well, don't you think?

This is an all time favourite fallback look of mine and I really hope you like it too. It's really easy to throw on in a rush and the fact that it gets me a lot of compliments, well.. that's definitely an added bonus. The look makes my blue/green eyes pop too and I honestly think it'll suit every eye colour. If you like the high shimmer look but you're not sure if gold is for you, I highly recommend that you check out the Australis Cosmetics Metallix Eyeshadows; they're stunning!

What's your go to look for when you're in a rush? Is there a look of yours that always seems to attract compliments?
