Australis Metallix Eyeshadow* Review and Swatches

I always really loved the Australis AC/ME Metallic Finish Eyeshadows but, given that they were limited edition, I didn't talk about them much. I mentioned them in a favourites or two but, let's be honest, no one really likes a product tease and I didn't want to send you on a hunt for something that's unavailable. It's just a dick move.

With that in mind, I was completely stoked when Australis announced that they were rereleasing the eyeshadow formula as part of their permanent line. The eyeshadows have a new name, Metallix Eyeshadow, and come in a range of six shades now; three new shades, as well as the three shades from the AC/ME collection. Not only can I finally sing their praises, there's more shades!!

To read about the super unique Australis Metallix Eyeshadows* and see swatches of all six colours, keep reading!

The Australis Metallix Eyeshadows* have a really unique gel/cream texture with a mousey feel to them, if that even makes sense. It's quite similar to the ColourPop eyeshadows, but less dry and more gel-like. All six shades in the range colours pack an absolute punch, as you'll be able to see from the swatches below, and they're so easy to apply. They apply very smoothly to the lids with the fingers which makes application so easy. You can use a brush, of course, but I wouldn't bother.

(AC/ME Eyeshadow in Bronzone - Same as Metallix Eyeshadow in Gold Gaga)

Guns and Rose Petals | Gold Gaga* | Plum Diddy* | Lana Del Grey | Pearl Jammin | Jay Zed*

There are six shades available in the Australis Metallix Eyeshadows* range. As I mentioned, three of the shades were previously available as part of their limited edition AC/ME collection. Two of the shades, Plum Diddy and Jay Zed, have kept the same name, whilst Bronzone became Gold Gaga in the new collection.

As the name suggests, the Australis Metallix Eyeshadows* have a metallic/foiled finish that makes them so unique and unlike anything else available, especially as such an affordable price point. They look beautiful alone on the lid, as well as under eyeshadow, and really make the eyes pop. Some people have found that they crease a bit so I'd probably recommend that you do set them, especially if you're prone to creasing.

Australis Metallix Eyeshadows* won't break the bank, retailing for $8.95 each, and I'd highly recommend you give them a shot. The whole range has been available since the middle of April and you can pick them up anywhere that sells Australis Cosmetics; Big W, Priceline and selected pharmacies. You can also pick them up online at www.australiscosmetics.com.au

Have you tried anything from The Australis Metallix Eyeshadows? What did you think? Do you love them as much as I do?

*This product was sent to me, however all opinions are my own. I was not paid for this review

  1. I've got three of these! Coincidentally, I bought the three original shades - those just appealed to me most! I'm so impressed with how pigmented and metallic they apply, but I do find they crease/transfer to my upper lid throughout the day. I haven't tried setting them with a powder shadow yet though!
