Monthly Beauty Favourites + 1 Fail | January, 2015

February 10, 2015 | , , , , , , , , ,
As far as months go, January was pretty kind to me. My Christmas break was great and the struggle of returning to work was oh-so-real but everyone knows those feels, don't they? This post is really late and I'm super sorry about that. Even though I'm brimming with ideas, I have been struggling to muster up the time and motivation to sit down and write posts lately so I'm adjusting my schedule a bit - there'll be more about that in another post that'll go live later today but.

I discovered some really great products in January and I'm really looking forward to finally sharing them with you all. A few of these have been loves of mine for a few months now but, for whatever the reason, I haven't spoken about them on the blog yet. I also started January absolutely loving one of these products but, sadly, found myself disliking it by the end of the month which is a really shame - we'll get to that later in the post but!
One of the best discoveries I made in early 2015 was the By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadows. I reach for these cream eyeshadows in wind up crayon form almost daily when I'm doing my make up and they still manage to impress me with their intense pigmentation, amazing shimmer and fantastic lasting power. I love all four that I own, though I'd probably say #05 Misty Rock and #06 Frozen Quartz were my favourites for January as I've owned them the longest.

I acquired MAC's Snob Lipstick in late 2014 through their BACK2MAC program and I've been absolutely obsessed with it ever since. This light/medium cool toned pink is exactly the type of shade I was looking for and it's become a staple on my lips.

Most of my favourites for the month of January were for my face, so let's get into it. Ahh, Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium, where have you been in my life?! This powder is absolutely amazing and it's been the only thing I've reached for to contour with since acquiring it - yes, I reach for it over my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit! This contour powder is the perfect shade; it's not too dark, not too light and not too ashy. This powder with my NARS ITA Brush is a match made in heaven and together they've stepped up my contour game 10 fold. Another cheek product I have been absolutely loving this month is the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping. I was never a fan of cheek highlighters until I added this to my collection and now I couldn't imagine doing my make up without it. It is the best highlighter I've ever found and I would recommend this over and over, especially if someone was thinking about getting MAC's Soft & Gentle which, in contrast, I really did not like. Finally for the face, I have been loving setting my face with the MAC Pressed Blot Powder in Light. I press this into the skin using the Abbamart Natural Blunt Buffing Brush and I just find that it keeps my face looking matte and helps my make up wear longer than anything else!

Last but not least, you'll know that I fell head over heels for the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in January but, unfortunately, I'm here to report that this bad boy breaks me out. I'm so devastated because I can't wear it anymore but, trust me, the deep and painful break out I endured is just not worth the long wearing flawless face, as much as I'm still struggling to admit it.

and that's a wrap! Let me know what beauty products you've been loving lately and, once again, I'm so sorry this post is late!
