TOP PRODUCTS OF 2014: Skincare

Like always, my skin was incredibly temperamental last year but I've made a few skincare discoveries that have made things a lot easier in 2014. There are a few old favourites that I'm still reaching for quite often, one of which I've included in this post, but I'm sure you'll see the continue to pop up in posts throughout 2014.

Anyway, all that aside, let's get into what I've been loving!

I have been using MAC's Cleanse Off Oil religiously for about a year and a half now so I figured it was only fitting that it features in yet another top products of the year post. This makeup removing oil does such an amazing job of removing all make up, so much so that I very rarely use a separate eye make up remover. I also love the fact that it's part of the BACK2MAC program because I can guarantee on finishing up 2-3 over the course of a year.

There are a few cleansers that I've enjoyed using in 2014, one of which is The Body Shop's Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash (not featured in image above because I'm all out). When I was unwell and had a bad skin symptoms (not blemishes but, for the record) I use Cetaphil's facial wash for oily skin and I found it to be really gentle but quite effective. More recently, however, I've been using and really enjoying the People for Plants' Grapefruit Aloe Foaming Cleansing Gel*. This cleanser is really gentle but foams up which I really like! It also cleans the skin nicely without making it feel stripped.

Toners are something I really like to experiment with and I've been really enjoying two from Mario Badescu this year. The Special Cucumber Lotion is a great daily toner. It's a really mild toner that soothes angry blemishes and, from what I can tell, prevents new breakouts. The Glycolic Acid Toner is a lot harsher so I only find myself reaching for it when my skin is feeling a bit congested. I feel the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner is a gentler version of Alpha H's Liquid Gold. It is a chemical exfoliant that boosts cell turn over to create a brightener complexion! I use this once or twice a week or whenever my skin feels a little bleurgh, for lack of a better word.

You know you loved a beauty product when you're devastated to finish it and that's exactly how I feel about the MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme. This moisturiser did wonders for my combination/oily skin and I would definitely still be using it if it wasn't sold out every time I went to repurchase it.

Finally, the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is a cult beauty product that I picked up from Sephora quite a while back. I didn't think I liked it at first. In fact, I was quite disappointed by it. Now that I've owned it for a while, I'm actually totally in love with it and I'd recommend it to anyone as the perfect overnight lip treatment!
