TOP PRODUCTS OF 2014: Fragrance, Hair, Nails and Tools

Last year I made some really amazing discoveries and found some ultimate beauty favourites. I've already talked you through my make up and skincare favourites and today I'm I wanted to share favourites that pretty much fit into any other category.

(Before I begin, I apologise for the photos - the sun wasn't cooperating but I was desperate to get the pics. Please don't hold it against me)

When I think about haircare in 2014, all I can think of is the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo and Conditioner*. This hair duo really did wonders for my hair and I truly miss having them as part of my haircare routine. The shampoo cleans the hair really nicely without being too harsh or stripping and the conditioner, well, is just amazing. I will definitely be picking these up again really soon.

I have owned the Marc Jacobs Honey fragrance for quite some time now (it actually featured in my 2013 favourites also) but, once again, it really was the fragrance highlight of the year. I wore others, of course, but this was always the fragrance I went to when I didn't know what to wear. It's just beautiful.

Finally for hair, I am still loving the Sephora Ribbon Hair Ties. They're not as harsh on the hair and there's no tugging, meaning there's less knotting and breakage. They also don't leave kinks in my hair which I'm really glad about!

I developed a full on love affair with Essie this year and I don't fully know how it started but I don't want it to end. For nail care, a combination of the Essie Grow Stronger Base Coat and Essie Good to Go Top Coat creates a long wearing nail colour that strengthens the nails. I acquired far too many Essie nail polishes this year so I'll be working on an updated Essie nail polish collection post sometime soon. If memory serves me right, it's the shade Neo Whimsical that's featured about.

Removing nail polish can be really time consuming and one of my best nail discoveries was the Maybelline Express Remover. This pot means that there's no need for cotton pads and bottled nail polish remover - it's all done for you! The Sephora Lime Nail Files are, without a doubt, the best nail files I have ever used and I highly recommend them. For some reason they're not available on the US Sephora website but I already have a friend in Sydney who's stocking up on them for me!

It's no secret that I really love make up brushes. Really. Friends who see my make up collection say it's a problem, though I tend to disagree. The Furless Black Beauty Angled Contour Brush* is a fantastic brush for light contouring or adding warmth to the perimeter of the face with bronzer. Fluffy crease brushes were a weakness of mine this year and the Sigma Tapered Blending E40 totally takes the cake. I have been loving buffing warm toned eyes shadows into the crease this year and that brush makes it an absolute dream! Finally for brushes (though I could go all day), I've found myself reaching for the Sigma Tapered Highlighter F35 at least once when doing my make up daily. This brush is great for applying powder to the under eye area and dusting highlight onto the high points of the cheekbones. It picks up the perfect amount of product and disperses it so nicely.

It's really important to look after the brushes that you're invested in and this year my friend introduced me to the Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge. This product is crazy affordable but cleans brushes incredibly well without drying out the bristles. Unfortunately we don't have a Daiso in Perth but it's so great that I have another interstate friend send it to me. Lucky I have interstate connections, eh?

What other beauty bits were you loving in 2014? Did you do a yearly favourites blog post or video? Link it below so I can check it out!

  2. I love the Essie Base and Top coats! How often do you need to replace the maybelline nail polish remover thing?
