Holiday Season Make Up Look: Gold Eyes and Two Lip Options

On Monday I showed you a somewhat contemporary take on a Christmas look (bright blue liner and peach lips) but today I thought I'd show you something a little more traditional. I tend to associate gold eyeshadow looks with this time of year so that's what I decided to go for today.

To see how I created the look and how I used all these products, keep reading!
As always, I primed my face using Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and used a foundation that I am currently testing out, Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Nude Foundation*. This foundation has quite light coverage so I used my MAC Pro Longwear Concealer under my eyes and on and blemishes or pigmentation that I wanted to cover up. To keep the make up on all day, I patted the MAC Blot Powder all over.

The foundation and concealer made my face look a little one dimensional so, like always, I decided to warm things up a bit by dusting NARS' Laguna Powder Bronzer around the perimeters of my face and I used MAC's Taupe Powder Blush to add some slight definition to my cheekbones. For a natural flush on the cheeks I used a small amount of the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface (not shown in picture).

I've been playing with a few new brow products lately so I used the Poni Cosmetics Brow Powder in Chestnut* to fill in and define my brows.

Like pretty much every look I've worn since I bought it, I used MAC's Painterly Paint Pot to neutralise my lids and create a base for my shadows. I wanted to add some definition to my lids before I added the colour so I used a combination of Make Up Geek's Beaches and Cream, Peach Smoothie and Creme Brûlée. Illamasqua's Liquid Metal in Solstice is such a beautiful gold cream pigment so it was the perfect base to this eye look. To set Solstice, and to add some more depth and sparkle, I patted the L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Goldmine all over the lid with my finger. To brighten up the look and make the gold pop, I applied the MAC's Chromographic Pencil in NC15/NW20 to my waterline. Finally, I threw on a few coats of a current love, Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara
I feel like a gold eye is so universally flattering and goes really well with a bunch of lip combinations so I decided to show how it looked with two different lip options, a cool toned pink and a sheer red lip. I recently got MAC's Satin Lipstick in Snob through their BACK2MAC program and I think it goes really well with this look. Red lips are so far out of my comfort zone so I opted for a sheer option, NYX's Butter Gloss in Red Velvet and, I've gotta say, I really love it!

And that's another seasonal make up look! I think this look is so festive and Christmas appropriate. I think I know what I want the third and final look to be but let me know if you have any requests!

What do you think of this look? Which lip do you prefer? What kind of looks do you tend to gravitate towards at this time of year?
