Too Faced Sugar and Spice Set Review and Swatches

After picking up one too many bits during the recent Sephora VIB sale, I vowed that I absolutely was not going to pick up any more Christmas sets when they finally hit Australian shores. After a particularly long day last Monday, however, I decided to browse my local Myer to realise that all of the holiday sets were released at Kit. Eeep!

I settled on the Too Faced Sugar and Spice Set, a set that contains a palette of 12 eyeshadows, deluxe sized sample of their Better Than Sex Mascara and a super cute gold cosmetics bag. I have been using almost daily since, so I thought I'd share my thoughts whilst it was still available!

The palette in this set is a natural inspired eyeshadow palette, of course. It has a variety of finishes and I really like the matte to frost/shimmer ratio (four matte and eight shimmer shades). It is a neutral/natural palette that leans towards warmer eyeshadows, even though there's a great selection of shades!

Coconut Cream | Nutmeg | Biscotti | Sugared Violet
Champagne Truffle | Pink Frosting | Cinnamon Sugar | Chocolate Cake
Meringue | Clove | Bon Bon | Black Licorice

I'm not going to describe all of the shades, that's what swatches for, but I'll talk you through a few favourites! I've been using Clove, a cool toned taupe brown shade, to fill in my brows lately and it's great. It's the perfect tone and works so well. I have also been loving Nutmeg, Champagne Truffle and Cinnamon Sugar, though all the shades are absolutely beautiful. Sugared Violet is a little more purple/violet toned in real life and, surprisingly, I have been gravitating towards it. It's a super pretty colour and a nice way to add a slight pop of colour to an eye look.

All of the eyeshadows in this palette have the Too Faced eyeshadow formula we have all grown to know and love (you can read more about why I like the formula in my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette review) so I know the formula will not disappoint you!

The Too Faced Sugar and Spice Set also has a deluxe sized sample of the oh-so-raved-about Better Than Sex Mascara. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this mascara in the beauty world lately so I am really glad to have the opportunity to try it.

I have only tried this mascara once so far but, as you can see from the before and after photos above, it does not disappoint. The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara has an hourglass shaped wand that I was a little wary about. I wasn't sure how it'd be at separating my lashes but, surprisingly, it was really great. It added so much volume without clumping the lashes together and made them look full and super dark! I'm really loving the effect.

The Too Faced Sugar and Spice Set retails for $52.00 here in Australia and I would highly recommend it. Given that it contains 12 nicely sized eyeshadows of a high quality and a deluxe sized sample, I think it's great value. You can pick the palette up online here or in store at Kit and Mecca Maxima.

Have you cracked and bought any holiday sets yet? Let me know!
