Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer Review

Even though I was blessed with quite long lashes, I have been lusting over the Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer ever since it was released earlier this year. Pretty much everyone that I see mention it loves it so, even though I couldn't justify picking up the accommpanying mascara, I threw it into my cart when I placed my recent Nordstrom order. I have only owned this for a week but I have fallen completely head over heels with it and it's not a fling, it's real love.

Urban Decay's Subversion Eyelash Primer is an eyelash primer designed to enhance the effects of mascara by making the lashes look more dramatic without the need for false lashes. Much like any other eyelash primer I've used (which is, like, one but stick with me..), this primer is white in formula. It is super lightweight, with what Urban Decay describes as a whipped formula, and it has a typical 'pipe cleaner' style wand, as I so affectionately call them. Even though I was a little concerned that the wand might result in clumping, I find that it separates the lashes nicely and applies a nice amount of product. Yay!

As you can see from the photo above, the Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer speaks for itself. I mentioned at the start that I have quite naturally long lashes (as you can see in my bottom lashes - there's no lash primer there) but even I notice a significant and dramatic difference in my lashes when my mascara is applied over the primer. I have tried the Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer over two mascaras at this point, Rimmel London's Wonder'full Mascara* (as seen above) and Benefit's They're Real! Mascara (as seen below), both of which I love. I will be interested to see how this performs under mascaras that I'm not already a huge fan of. Of course, I'll report back (probably on Instagram) once I've tested it out.

In general, I have never been a fan of layering mascaras, purely because I find that things tend to become clumpy quite quickly. Don't get me wrong, girls who do it often have amazing lashes so maybe I've just never found a combination I've really loved. For me, this is the perfect solution for that. I'm not sure if it's technically layering mascaras as one is designed to be a base but I do not care, there's absolutely no clumping and I love the way it looks!

I will say that wearing the Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer under mascara does make mascara a little more difficult to remove in the evening. It's not impossible, not by any means, but it might be time for me to invest in a new bottle of Maybelline's Total Clean Express Eye & Lip Makeup Remover, something I have just been putting off for ages.

Wearing Urban Decay's Subversion Eyelash Primer under Benefit's They're Real! Mascara

As I'm sure you can tell, I am a huge fan of Urban Decay's Subversion Eyelash Primer and I am really enjoying experimenting with it and, of course, receiving compliments on my super long lashes! I highly recommend the Urban Decay Subversion Eyelash Primer and I think I will for a very long time to come. If you're in Australia you can pick it up from BeautyBay.com for $31.00. For all my US readers, you can pick this up from anywhere that sells Urban Decay for $20.00.

What do you think of the Urban Decay's Subversion Eyelash Primer? Will you be adding it to your beauty wish list? Do it, you know you want to.
