Benefit The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder* Review

Benefit's The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder*, sister to the oh-so-famous POREfessional Pro Balm, was released towards the start of this year and I have been busting my guts to try it ever since! The reviews are great and, to be honest, I've really just been wanting to give it a shot because I love their Pro Balm so much! I'm not sure why I haven't picked it up sooner, or at all, but I was super excited when it arrived on my doorstep early this month/late last month.

Let me just say it, I am in love with Benefit's The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder*. This is a really lightweight and super finely milled powder that mattifies the skin without making it look flat and one dimensional (oily skinned girls who gravitate towards mattifying products, I'm sure you know these feels). I have combination/oily skin and this is one of the best, if not the best, powders I have ever found for my skin type. After applying it to my full face of base make up, my make up looks so much nicer and more put together. Not only does it look nicer, it stays better! I have found that my make up wears so much nicer when set with the Benefit's The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder*. Any shine that comes through looks more like a subtle glow than an oily face and I barely pull out my MAC Studio Fix Pressed Powder to touch up during the day anymore!

The Benefit The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder* is housed in packaging that, to be honest, I'm not 100% sold on. Underneath the screwable lid is a lockable sifter that, I must say, is very practical and makes dispensing a small amount of product in the lid quite easy.  The bottom unscrews to provide a built in brush that, as unattractive as it may look, is actually quite soft! I feel like the packaging is a bit bulky and quite gimmicky but, if you're going to throw it in your handbag for touch ups, you might really like it! My frustration with the packaging is that the lid isn't big enough to fit my powder brush in. When I am using a loose powder like to pour some powder into my lid and then pat my brush (at the moment I'm using the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush) into the product that way, though it's quite difficult to do with this style of packaging. It's doable, yes, but it's a bit more difficult.

All of my picky packaging issues aside, I am completely in love with the Benefit The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder* and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, whether you have oily skin or not. I feel like it's mattifying enough to appeal to my oily skinned ladies, but not too drying that it rules out love from my dry skinned gals. The Benefit The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder* retails for $44.00 and if you're going to treat yourself to one high end face product to round off the year, I'd highly suggest you make it this!

Have you tried the Benefit The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder*? What did you think of it?
What's your favourite setting powder?

  1. Ohh my the design of the dispenser is quite odd~ ^ ^
I would be a little too scared of the powder accidentally spilling out! ^ - ^

  2. I tried it in the store when it first came out and was thrown off by the dispenser and colour of the product.

    1. I have questioned whether the colour would be detrimental for some people but I don't find it is for me x
