The Blogger/Vlogger Make Me Buy It! TAG

When you read as many beauty blogs and watch as many beauty channels on YouTube as I do, it's only natural that you base some of your beauty purchases on recommendations and hype. I sure know I do! Sometimes you love the products, other times you hate them. Either way, you've given it a shot for yourself and your yearning to try it has finally subsided.

Today I'm talking about just some of the beauty purchases I've made on the recommendation of  beauty bloggers and vloggers. Some of these products I love, others I really dislike, but I'm going to talk you through it all!

Lorac Pro Palette
Everyone has this palette. The people that don't have this palette want this palette. I bought it in July of last year and, to be honest, I very rarely using, only pulling it out when I force myself to. The colours are nice so I don't quite know what it is, but something about this really disappoints me. In saying that though, some of the colours in the Pro 2 really appeal to me so I'm thinking of grabbing it.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
This high coverage and thin textured concealer is a must have in the beauty community and I totally understand why. It is very long lasting, as the name suggests, and works really well under the eyes, to conceal blemishes or just to conceal redness. I've ever heard of people using it as their foundation! I have a full review here

MAC Creme Cup
When I started getting into beauty videos on YouTube, MAC's Creme Cup was one of the most hyped about products. Full stop. Flash forward a couple of years and I've just finished my first tube and I'm onto my second, not knowing how I could ever live without it! This blue based pink lipstick is subtle enough to be teamed with a busy eye look but it looks just as good teamed with a very understated eye look.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light
This has been one of the most disappointing beauty community purchases that I've made, I'll be honest. I feel like it doesn't look any different to any other translucent face when applied but an hour later I'm shiny and look like a grease ball. I don't see the miracle everyone else sees but maybe I got the wrong shade?

Benefit They're Real Mascara
This mascara is a real beauty! I was a little apprehensive when I first tried it but now I understand why so many people like it. Whilst there's still a couple of mascaras that I do prefer (Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara), I love the way this makes my lashes look. This is my second sample size of the mascara and I can't believe how long they last too!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
If you've read many of my posts recently you'll know that I am completely smitten with this product. It has such a perfecting quality to it! It smoothes out the skin, evens out the colour ever so slightly, controls shine throughout the day and prolongs the wear of any foundation! I have a full review here

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Per Couture Glossy Stain
This is another one of those products that everyone was talking about a few years ago and it's probably the only product I'm talking about today that I'm on the fence about. I have three shades (#1 Violet Edition, #17 Encre Rose and #19 Beige Aquarelle) and, even though I like them, I just don't find myself reaching for them! They last well but I find the texture a bit odd on the lips. I need to make a conscious effort to use these more!

Hurraw Lip Balm
Shannon Harris (Shaaanxo) has hyped these lip balms up so much in the past year or so, with others jumping on the bandwagon more recently. I had wanted to try these for quite some time so I was really thrilled to win two a few months back but, unfortunately, I'm just not sold on them. I find that they're quite superficial. They feel nice on the skin but don't feel like they're penetrating the surface of the lip to do anything too beneficial.

If you're still here and reading this post, thank you very much! I have talked about quite a few products and I could've talked about so many more. Who's up for a part two? Anyway, I feel like this post goes to show that different products work for different people. If you hate something I love or love something I hate, well, that's okay. It's all a part of it!

I tag the following beautiful ladies -
Anissa // Beautifully Glossy
Jasmine // Sweetaholic Beauty
Amy // Bottled Beauty
Nalini // The Made Up Maiden
Sarah // More Than Adored
Natalia // Glossy Confidential
Sheri // Berri X Beauty

Are you as easily influenced by beauty bloggers and vloggers? What have you bought because of them? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Have you tried any of the products I talked about?

*This product was sent to me, however all opinions are my own. I was not paid for this review

  1. I often find myself wanting things because of blogs and YouTube but the high cost of makeup in nz and the fact things aren't easily available often stops me - which is a blessing and a curse! I want Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow at the moment because I've seen it everywhere online!

  2. Thanks for the tag! I've been going through my products and have realised that a very large portion of my products were inspired by bloggers, oops.
