THE BALMY ARMY | Top 5 Lip Balm TAG

Lip balms are one of my many beauty weaknesses. I can't see a new one without wanting to try it. Ultimately, I want all of the lip balm. All of it! I was going to do a post on some of the best and worst lip balms I've tried but, instead, I thought I'd turn it into a TAG because I'd love to read other people's answers too. You never know, I might even find some more lip balms that I need to get my hands on. It's possible, right?
I have chosen five different lip balm categories to talk about so, with nothing left to say, let's get into the TAG!

Best high end lip balm?

The best high end lip balm in my collection is most definitely the Dior Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm. This lip balm is incredibly hydrating and smells beautiful. Despite what the name suggests, this lip balm doesn't plump my lips which really doesn't bother me because I hate plumping lip products!

Lip balm you have a love/hate relationship with?
I both love and hate the Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm*. Whilst I sang its praises in my review because it does a great job of hydrating it whilst leaving a matte finish to the lips, I've more recently discovered that it actually dries my lips out if I wear it to bed for a few days in a row. When I say dry, I mean flaky dry. I still use this occasionally at night because I really like it but I can't use it consistently. Has anyone else had this problem?

Best before bed lip balm?
If I'm honest, my all time favourite before bed lip balm is the Dior Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm but, given that I've already talked about it, I thought I'd talk about my close second, the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. This lip balm is one of the most hyped about lip products of 2014 and I think it's really nice. It's a thick lip balm that smooths out quite nicely onto the lips. The scent is a little funky but it's quite effective so that doesn't bother me. This now lives in my bedside table.

Best affordable lip balm?
I have gone through so many Maybelline Baby Lips in Anti-Oxidant Berry lip balms. Seriously, so many. I don't have any at the moment to show you so instead I photographed the US equivalent in Quenched. The Maybelline Baby Lips in Anti-Oxidant Berry is a really light but super hydrating lip balm that comes in at under $4.00. I highly recommend them. Also, in case you're wondering, I don't think the US ones are as good as ours!

Handbag essential?
There are two lip balms that I always keep in my handbag, Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment in Sugar and Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine. I know featuring two might be cheating but I honestly could not choose. The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is great for when I am on the go because it's easy to apply. It's quite hydrating and has a great lemony scent. When I'm out and I want something a little more hydrating I always reached for the Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine. This lip balm is incredibly hydrating, super comfortable and smells delicious. It has a pale milky tint that evens out the colour in my lips without making them look too made up.

Bonus - Other or honourable mention!
I wouldn't be able to make a post without talking about the Born to Buy Born to Balm lip balms. These lip balms are the perfect lip product to be worn underneath a lip colour for additional hydration because they don't influence the colour on top, just make it a bit more comfortable. You can pick these bad boys up here.

    1. Korres Lip Butters are beautiful, aren't they? I recommend them to everyone and I'm onto my fourth or fifth. The love is real! I don't think you'll regret the Dior Crème de Rose. It's such a beautiful item to splurge on. X

  4. Awesome tag! I have a crazy obsession with lip balm, I have way too many, yet I can never have enough! I have a love hate relationship with Nuxe Reve de Miel, though it's more on the hate side to be honest! I find it decently hydrating, but it doesn't really absorb into my lips and sets over them creating a weird film? Very perplexing.

    1. It sounds like you and I are kindred spirits, Tasha. I just have too many lip balms and I'm always on the hint for something 'better'. We're never happy, are we? Yes! The Reve de Miel does that to me too! I find that it collects in the corners of my mouth so I hate this pure white goop there in the morning if I use it overnight. As you say, it's quite hydrating but I don't know if the pros outweigh the cons. X
