Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm* Review & Swatches

Every brand, drugstore and otherwise,  seems to be releasing their own version of the jumbo lip pencil lately so I wasn't very surprised with I received the media kit for the launch of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balms* in July. Rimmel London, together with Rita Ora, have recently released a crayon style twist up lipstick which moisturises the lips whilst providing colour that really 'packs a punch'.
Over the past few weeks I have been putting all six of the available shades to the test and, despite of the fact that Rimmel London was one of the last brands to jump on this product bandwagon, I really love them. I've been wanting to share my thoughts with y'all for a while now so, if you're interested in seeing what I think of them, keep reading!

The Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balms* come in six shades here in Australia (I have seen a seventh, violet purple shade, floating around the blogisphere but it doesn't seem to have made it to our shores unfortunately) which are housed in sturdy plastic packaging. They are windy up crayons which, thankfully, means that there's no need for a sharpener and the cap is quite secure so hopefully there's no product mess in your handbag!

All six shades of Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balms* are beautiful and incredibly pigmented. They apply with medium 'coverage', though they can be quite easily sheered out or intensified should you look prefer it. Each of the swatches below is after one swipe only, to give you an indication of colour pay off.

#100 Give Me A Cuddle* | #710 Drive Me Nude* | #200 Keep Mauving* | #600 On Fire* | #220 Rumour Has It* | #500 The Redder The Better*

#100 Give Me A Cuddle is a candy coral pink. One the glossy finish has worn away from this colour, I find that it leaves a coral stain to the lips for quite some time. #710 Drive Me Nude is a neutral nude shade that I think would work well with a lot of people. #200 Keep Mauving is a dusty rose pink shade - it's kind of the Kylie Jenner lip colour everyone's been lusting after without the uncomfortable matte finish. #600 On Fire is a bright coral. #220 Rumour Has It is a bright fuchsia shade that isn't quite as very toned as I would've liked. Finally, #500 The Redder The Better is a true blue toned red. None of these shades have shimmer to them.

The finish of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balms* is quite nice. I had a bit of a sheen to it and I guess I'd liken it to something between a cremesheen and a lustre finish. Even though they claim to be a long lasting lip product as opposed to a stain, I do find that they stain my lips quite well. The shade I use the most, #100 Give Me A Cuddle* stains the lips a darker coral colour once the moisturising finish has worn off.

Out of all the jumbo lip pencil-esque products in my collection, this is one of my favourites. They have an incredible vanilla scent to them (seriously, it's not tacky vanilla and I daresay it's better than MAC's vanilla lipstick scent), are super comfortable on the lips and quite long lasting, needing to only be touched up once or twice on a work day. I think the selection of colours is quite nice, though I would've loved to see a more berry shade which is more purple toned than #220 Rumour Has It*. In case you're wondering, my most worn shade is definitely #100 Give Me A Cuddle*

The Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balms* have been available in Australia since August, 2014. They retail for $12.95 and can be purchased from Priceline, Target, Kmart and Big W stores, as well as selected pharmacies, Coles and Woolworths stores.

Have you tried any of these Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balms*? What did you think of them? What do you think of the jumbo pencil lip craze?
