I've always had pretty bad skin but, to be honest, even though some of my break outs were hormonal, I think a lot of the blemishes I had were actually my super sensitive skin's reaction to the harsh skincare products I was using to combat the blemishes, thus creating a vicious cycle. Lately my skin has improved a lot, having switched up my skincare routine a fair bit, so I thought it was time to let you know what I'm using now!
To cleanse I'm using Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser. It's not fancy and I don't necessarily like the fragrance (why bother adding fragrance to a cleanser?!) but I feel like it does a great job of cleansing my skin without stripping it. It also foams a little which I really like. Next up I tone with the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. I've been using these for quite a while now and I really think they do brighten up my complexion quite nicely! They're not harsh at all. I like to use a really lightweight eye cream in mornings and the People for Plants Kakadu Plum, Calendula and Chamomile Eye Cream* is the perfect one! It sits nicely under make up and I like to apply it before my moisturiser to ensure it can really soak in nicely. Finally I use one of two moisturisers, either the Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion or MAC Oil Control Lotion. If I'm not going to be wearing make up I'll opt for the Murad moisturiser and I tend to stay a little more matte with it but I really like using the MAC one under make up as I feel like it helps control oil throughout the day.
I didn't include it in this photo but if I want to wear an SPF in the daytime I'll apply the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid after my moisturiser.
My morning skincare routine is a lot less labor intensive than it was previously and, I must say, I really like that. It was by chance that I discovered that my skin was reacting really positively to using less harsh products on my face but so far, over a month in, I'm really happy with the result. I have the occasional one off blemish, my skin texture isn't completely even and there's still some red pigmentation left behind from old breakouts but I can definitely deal with all of that!
If you want to know what I use on my face in the evenings, stay tuned. I'll be uploading my nighttime skincare routine in the coming days.
What do you think of my updated skincare routine? Have you tried any of these products before? Is there anything you'd recommend?

I literally just started using the Cetaphil cleanser and it is doing wonders for my skin. Turns out my mum is allergic to lanolin and this is lanolin free. Might be the reason! I like this no-fuss morning skincare routine :) I need to cut mine down a little I think!

I'm enjoying Cetaphil. It's just a basic product that doesn't try to compete with other skincare I'm using. I think mine is good enough for 5.45am! X
DeleteThat's really great that your skin has improved Sophie! I love the FAB pads, I recently finished up my first tub of them. I'm also using the PFP eye cream and loving it!

Clearer skin is definitely a welcomed change, Tasha. Thank you! Great minds think alike (or have the same taste in skincare, it seems). X
