Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel Review and Swatches

Gel nails are such a big deal in the beauty and nail industry these days and, though I have tried both in salon and at home nail treatments, I've never been all that impressed with the results. I think it's a nice concept but I've never found them to be extremely long wearing and, in the words of our UK friends, I've always found the application and removal to processes for a true gel manicure to be a bit of a faff. When I saw a display of the Revlon GelEnvy Longwear Nail Enamel in Priceline recently, I was super excited. A gel type longwear nail polish without the need for curing with a UV light? Yes, please!

I've been playing with the five shades I own, plus the Diamond Top Coat, for a month or so now and today I'm going to share my thoughts with you!

The Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel is a two step nail system that provides the longevity of a gel manicure without having to be set with a UV light. There are two products that must be used, the Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Colour and the Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat. In the month and a bit that I have owned these polishes they have easily become the most reached for polishes for that time period.

#440 Wild Card | #420 Winning Streak | #320 Full House | #100 Cardshark | #020 All or Nothing

I own five Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamels at the moment plus the Diamond Top Coat which they claim must be used with the nail colours otherwise they don't set properly. I find application of the nail colour to be really lovely. The more sheer colours in my collection, #020 All or Nothing and #100 Cardshark, do normally take an extra coat to be come opaque but, for the most part, I find that two coats gives me an opacity that I am really happy with. The texture of these nail colours may be slightly thicker than that of a normal nail polish but that doesn't influence the drying time at all. In fact, these are really quick drying nail polishes!

The Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat is really lovely and, when (and if, let's me honest) I finally find myself venturing out and reaching for other nail polishes in my collection, I think I may test this out at a top coat for them as well. This top coat smooths out the look of the nail completely, repairing any smudges you may have made (anyone else guilty of touching their hair with wet nails? I seem to do it every freaking time), leaving a glossy and seamless finish. The Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat, again, applies really nicely too and, like the nail colours, it dries really fast.

Removing a Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel manicure is so much easier than removing a traditional gel manicure. I find myself reaching for the Maybelline Express Remover, purely because it's so convenient, but I've found any traditional nail polish remover works well.

In terms of longevity, I am really impressed with the Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamels. They don't last as long as their claims (two weeks, if I recall?) but they do definitely last better than most nail polishes in my collection. I find myself removing these polishes at the 5 day+ mark, normally because I'm bored of the colour rather than major chipping issues. That's not to say there's no chips because there is, it's just the odd one rather than the whole nail.

The Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel range retails for $16.95 which, if I'm honest, I think it a bit much for one nail polish. I picked all six of the polishes I own up when Priceline had a 2 for $20 offer, making them a lot more affordable, but I'd definitely recommend waiting until there's some sort of 2 for 1 deal. In fact, Priceline is currently offering 3 for the price of 2 at the moment. That might be a good place to start!

Have you tried any of the Revlon Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel range? What did you think? What's your favourite colour I own so far?

  2. They look so shiny and lovely, adore the shades. Gel-effect polishes are really kicking off in the drugstore so I may have to get myself some new polish! Have you happened to test them without the diamond topcoat? I wonder if it really makes that much of a difference.

  4. I love the shade range with these, but I ended up going for the Sally Hansen miracle gel range instead. I saw you picked some of those up too, I'd love to know which one you prefer. I'll probably get these too next time there's a 2 for 1 deal.

    1. I haven't put them head to head as I don't have two shades similar enough to get way with it BUT I do find that they perform similarly. X
