Emptying the Trash and Beauty Diet Update // August 2014

This month I thought my Emptying the Trash post would be quite, well, empty because I haven't used much up but then I remembered I didn't upload one last month because I wasn't well. This month I have a collection of haircare, skincare, make up and more! If you're not aware, I'm making a conscious effort to work through my half used products as a part of The Beauty Diet but I'll make more reference to that when I get to my make up bits.

Cedel Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair*
I really liked this dry shampoo. The dark tint is perfect for my brunette hair, leaving not awful white cast, and I think it does a great job of absorbing oil and refreshing a hair style. It also gives me hair some additional texture which can be nice! I have a full review of this product here if you'd like to read more.
Would I repurchase? I think I have a back up of this. If I don't I would when I finish up some other dry shampoos I own.

Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo
I've used two of these up but technically only one was over the past two months as I've been meaning to take one of the bottles out of my shower for months. I'm not going to talk about it because I rave about it a lot (A LOT) but I have a review here if you want to read about why I love it so much.
Would I repurchase this? I haven't yet because I want to venture out of my comfort zone but, yes, I definitely will!

Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo
Yep, another shampoo product! Whoops. This has been in my shower for quite some time now and, given then the hefty price tag, I like to use it for 'special occasions' and days where I feel like my hair needs a little more TLC. I really like this shampoo and I feel like it does a great job
Would I repurchase this? Yes, definitely. I will buy the 1L bottle next though as it's much better value

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge
This is another of those products that I constantly rave about and recommend to anyone and everyone! I go through this product really quickly as it does such a fantastic job of cleaning my brushes and I love the super affordable price tag. You can read all my thoughts about it here.
Would I repurchase? I can't buy this in Australia as we don't have a Daiso but my dear friend Jasmine sends me a bunch every few months.
LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
This sample of a cult favourite from LUSH came in a beauty subscription box a long time ago and, whilst I did really like it, I didn't use it up because I ran out. Oops! You can read all about why I like it here.
Would I repurchase it? Probably not. I liked it but I didn't use it

Murad Clarifying Wipes for Blemish-Prone Skin

I used to use these in place of a toner after cleansing in the evenings and I really liked them. I'm not sure how much they help my constant battle for clear but I think they're a really nice product. I'm haven't been these daily at the moment as my skin has been a lot clearer but I still reach for them if I can feel a blemish popping up!

Would I repurchase? I already have.

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

I really like this eye cream. This is the second one I've gone through and I still find myself reaching for it every evening. This eye cream is a part of my Nighttime Skincare Routine and I have a full review of it here.
Would I repurchase it? I already have!

Essence Me & My Ice Cream Hand Wipes

These hand wipes aren't actually empty but they've completely dried out so I'm saying goodbye to them. They were a cute addition to my handbag and smelt delicious but I won't miss them.
Would I repurchase? They were LE.

Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser

This is the cleanser that I now use as part of my morning and evening skincare routines. I feel like it's been a big contributing factor my skin clearing up and I'm really quite fond of it.
Would I repurchase it? I already have in the bigger size!
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner
I was also sent this eye liner from Jasmine, this time as part of our Top 5 Beauty Product Swap about this time last year (funny how we're planning another swap at the moment too!). I really liked this product and it's created an unhealthy love affair with felt tipped liners. Gee thanks, Jasmine!
Would I repurchase this? I already have. I'm using a Stila liner at the moment but I have one of these in my backs up drawer

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup
Creme Cup is one of my favourite lipsticks of all time, if not my favourite. It's such a beautiful colour, is so comfortable on the lips and works with so many different looks. I can't believe I actually finished one up! I would highly recommend it.
Would I repurchase this? I bought a back up in April as I thought I'd use it up sooner than I did

OCC Lip Tar in Divine
I bought this OCC Lip Tar from a friend in a blog sale quite a while ago and I'm getting rid of it. I have only ever used it twice and never worn it out of the house as I, unfortunately, didn't feel that the colour was for me.
Would I repurchase it? I would repurchase OCC Lip Tars but not in this shade

Essence I Heart Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara*
As I mentioned in my somewhat recent Open Mascara Edit, I was quite disappointed with this mascara. It made my lashes look quite clumpy and I've not been able to make it work, no matter how hard I tried!
Would I repurchase? Nope.

Nails Inc. Gel Effect Top Coat with Kensington Caviar
This top coat was a part of a Sephora pack that I bought around Christmas time and I was so impressed by it! It gave my nails such a great glossy shine and kept my polish on for such a long time! Unfortunately it dried up before I was finished with it but that's to be expected. All nail polishes seem to do it.
Would I repurchase? Definitely.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara
I was really impressed with this mascara. It gave me a really natural look, defining my lashes and adding volume without adding too much drama or intensity. For a full review of the mascara, click here
Would I repurchase? Sure! When I work through the million I already have open.

I'm pretty impressed with everything I finished up this month. It's quite a lot, don't you think? I only finished six make up products, meaning I can buy three new ones! Score.

My current total is 7 - I'm allowed to buy 7 new products! There are a few bits 'n' pieces I am dying to pick up (NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows, I am looking at you) so I can feel some sort of online order coming soon! To read about a few other bits I'm lusting after, click here

Let me know what you think of these products if you've tried them!

*This product was sent to me, however all opinions are my own. I was not paid for this review

  1. Shame you couldn't get much use out of the OCC lip tar! The Kiehl's eye cream sounds nice. Mm avocado!

    Sheri | Behind The Frames

    1. The Lip Tar is just all wrong for me and there was no point hanging into it. I'm actually not a fan or avocado but I do like it in my eye cream, it seems. X

  2. I've never finished a lipstick, well done! I love Cetaphil, but I use the one for normal skin.

    1. Thank you, Lena! It's not often that I finish one but occasionally it happens. X

  3. You can get your Daiso stuff in Australia m'dear... ;) we have stores too! I stocked up in Melbourne last year and am still going on one of my ten bottles I bought haha!
I really want to try those Murad wipes!
    Do you back2Mac?

    1. Hi Dustyn. I know there are Diaso stores in Australis but, unfortunately, there's none in WA and they don't have an online store. It's such a great product, isn't it? The Murad wipes are great! I most certainly do BACK2MAC. This lipstick is in a bag waiting for a few more empties before it can be taken in. X
