My Top 10 Winter Lip Picks

Whether you're a nude lip lover or a bold girl girl, there's no doubting the fact that the cooler months are the time to bump up lip colours and get a little more adventurous. I love to switch up my lip colours and, even though I don't let the seasons dictate my make up, I do love an excuse to wear a deeper coloured lip.

I went on a winter lip hunt in my collection and found ten different lip colours that I think would be great for the autumn/winter weather. I've chosen five more natural colours with subtle winter tones, as well as five that I feel really epitomise winter lips!

Keep reading to see what my Top 10 Winter Lip Picks are!

The first five lip colours I have to show you are for the subtle lip lovers. If you want to embrace the darker, berry lip trend but you aren't quite sure you're reading for something vampy and in your face, I think some, if not all, of the following five lip colours will be for you!

1 Skin Solution Tinted Lip Butter in Coconut Plum* | Revlon Lip Butter #085 Sugar Plum | Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Plum Russian | Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in #360 As You Want Victoria* | Australis Go Long Longwear Lipstick in Uber Cool*

The 1 Skin Solution Tinted Lip Butter in Coconut Plum* is a really great choice. It is a soft plum colour that will compliment a lot of looks. Revlon's Lip Butter #085 Sugar Plum is very similar in colour. It's a little more sheer, a bit more glossy and ahas a bit more of a pink tone to it as you can see from the swatches above. Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Plum Russian  is one of my lip product loves. It's a beautiful sheer purple/plum shade that can be worn softly or built up to something quite reminiscent of MAC's Rebel. Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in #360 As You Want Victoria* is a bright berry pink and I absolutely love the look of it. It only hit my make up collection recently so I've not yet worn it, but I know so many people who really love this colour. It seems to compliment so many different skin tones! Finally for the subtle lips we have Australis Go Long Longwear Lipstick in Uber Cool*. Uber Cool is quite a vibrant mauve shade that can be patted onto the lips to create a more subtle mauve lip look. I'll be reviewing the whole Go Long Longwear Lipstick sometime soon so stay tuned!

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in #107 | Shanghai Suzy Miss Kitty | Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Matte Lipstick #29* | MAC Rebel | Lime Crime Poisonberry

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in #107 is a deep berry red with cool undertones. It has a matte finish that's not too uncomfortable and it has really great lasting power. I think red lips suit me so this is always my red lip of choice! Shanghai Suzy Miss Kitty is described as a blackened plum. It's a lot darker than the swatch appears and it really can be built up to a very deep berry/plum colour! Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Matte Lipstick #29* is a pink toned very bright purple shade. It can be quite vibrant but, when worn over a darker nude lip liner, it becomes a deep purple shade that's really beautiful. I can't write a blog post without mentioning MAC Rebel so here it is! This lip colour one of my favourite lip colours in my whole collection. It's a deep berry pink shade. It starts off quite dark but, as it wears off, it turns to a more pink toned shade. It's a colour I wear a lot and I already get compliments on it! Lastly we have Lime Crime's lipstick in Poisonberry. Poisonberry is what I'd describe as a blackened purple. It's another lip colour that can be worn quite sheer if you just want a wash of colour, but it can also be worked up to something really deep! In the tube it looks like it has a frosted finish but I've never seen that translate to the lips.

I have a lot of lipsticks in my collection and there's probably a handful more that I could've shown in this post but I had to stop somewhere. I really hope that I've shown a good variety of shades. I tried to pick something for everyone!

If there's a lip colour that you know you'll be wear a lot this winter, let me know what it is below in a comment! We all know I don't need to be lusting after another lipstick but oh well. If you've tried any of these lipsticks, let me know what you thought of them as well.

  2. Lovely picks! I'm definitely more of a subtle lippie person when it comes to dark colours. I haven't tried any purple lips yet either but maybe one day I'll find the courage.
