Essence Longlasting Lipstick* Review and Swatches

My love of lipsticks has never been a secret, not on my blog and certainly not in real life. I've been accumulating a number of new lipsticks over the past few months including a couple from the Essence Longlasting Lipstick* collection. Essence is one of my favourite affordable make up brands and when I saw the new sleek packaging, I knew I had to have some. I've recently picked up two shades from the collection, Natural Beauty and Wear Berries, and I was also sent another colour, All You Need is Red.

The Essence Longlasting Lipsticks* are one of the newest offerings from Essence, hitting the shelves late last year. More recently, three new shades (a nude, bright pink and a rose shade) were added to the collection in February. The lipsticks are intended to provide a high level of long wearing lip colour that doesn't dry out the lips.

As I said perviously, I have three Essence Longlasting Lipsticks*; All You Need is Red*, Natural Beauty and Wear Berries. All You Need is Red* is a red shade with pink undertones, Natural Beauty is a rosy pink that looks a lot more natural and nude on most people than it does on myself and Wear Berries is a purple toned pink shade that I picked up as a more wearable alternative to MAC's Rebel.

I have to say it, I really like the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks*. The lipsticks apply really smoothly. There's no tugging and it applies a really nice amount of product to the lips. The swatches above are after only one swatch so, as you can see, they're really nicely pigmented. Lipsticks don't tend to last incredibly well on me as I keep my lips really moisturised but the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks* go three(ish) hours without needing to be reapplied. Not bad, I don't think. One of my favourite things about the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks* is the how they feel on the lips. These lipsticks are not drying at all. They feel on the lips is somewhere between a MAC Cremesheen and a MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick when it's on the lips but they're very comfortable. They don't dry my lips out in the slightest!

The packaging of the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks* is lovely and a great improvement on their previous lipsticks. The sleek black packaging is really nice and, as superficial as it sounds, they look really nice housed in my lipstick storage together. There is a coloured ring around the lipstick tube to indicate what colour it is which is a welcome change from MAC's plain black packaging. No guessing games! The Essence logo is also embossed onto the bullet of the lipstick which I think is another really great touch.

The Essence Longlasting Lipsticks* are really lovely and, at only $4.10, I highly recommend them. They are available from Essence stands at Priceline and Target and there is a total of 13 shades available at the moment.

Have you tried the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks? If so, what's your favourite shade? I'd love to know as I really want to grab a few more.
