Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

I said I wasn't going to do it, I know, but about a month ago I gave into temptation and picked up the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. This palette has a selection of sixteen eyeshadows in a variety of shades and finishes, featuring everything from nudes to berry tones and mattes to shimmers.

I'm quite fond of this palette, as you'll know if you've seen any of my recent posts. Keep reading to see why.

Row One: Gilded Ganache | White Chocolate | Milk Chocolate | Black Forest Truffle | Triple Fudge
Row Two: Salted Caramel | Marzipan | Semi-Sweet | Strawberry Bon Bon | Candied Violet | Amaretto
Row Three: Hazelnut | Creme Brulee | Haute Chocolate | Cherry Cordial | Champagne Truffle

The eyeshadows in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette are absolutely beautiful. Honestly, they're really somethin' else. They all blend and apply like an absolute dream, with each shade working together to create some really beautiful looks. As you can see from the swatches above, the eyeshadows in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette are all very pigmented. Some have photographed better than others, however they're all really lovely in real life. All of the shadows work so well together and this is the first palette that I've owned where I've honestly felt that I could create an entire look from it.

What I like about this product is the fact that, even though there's a great selection of neutral shades, there's also a bunch of more interesting colours that could create some really unique looks. Black Forest Truffle, Amaretto and Cherry Cordial are all plumy/red toned shades that I'm really enjoying experimenting with, especially as the weather slowly starts to cool down. If purple shades are more your thing, Candied Violet would look beautiful too.

If you've been thinking about picking up the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette but you're not quite sure, another big draw card for this product is the scent, the beautiful chocolate scent. I know the thought of a palette smelling like chocolate sounds awful and you're thinking of the artificial chocolate smells reminiscent of lip smackers in the 90s, however this is truly something else. I absolutely hate the smell of things like Palmer's Cocoa Butter so I was concerned that this would smell similar. Instead it has a realistic, cocoa smell that makes it a girl's dream to apply.

Finally, let's talk about the packaging of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. In short, I love it. It has a tin much like the Urban Decay Naked 2 and 3 palettes, however it has a magnetic closure as opposed to a clunky clasp.

If there's one product you're going to buy this year, make it the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. This palette is absolutely beautiful and worthy the hefty(ish) price tag, especially when you divide the cost by the number of colours. It retailed for $68.95 from Kit Cosmetics which is where I got mine, however it's also available from Beauty Bay for $79.00. I picked one up for a reader too, so keep your eyes out on the blog over the next few weeks.

Do you have and love Too Faced's Chocolate Bar Palette? If you don't have it, how do you think you'll like it?

  1. I don't blame you for caving and buying this. The colours are so pretty and it looks like such a versitile palette. I'm worried I won't get a job in time to get my mits on it. Got my fingers crossed already for your giveaway, haha.

    1. I didn't think I needed this bit, let me tell you, I was SO wrong. Every girl needs this in her collection. As you say, it is a really versatile palette and, given that it's a palette of neutrals, I'm surprised at how unique it is! Goodluck in advance for the giveaway. X

  2. I totally agree, I love the damn thing as well and the way it smells makes putting it on a greater experience then usual.

(Btw i think your formatting may have gone a bit haywire, first two paragraphs are left aligned and the last two are centered)

    1. Hey, lovely! It's such a beautiful palette, isn't it? I definitely agree also. It makes the whole make up application process an even better experience, if that is even possible. Also, thanks for letting you know about the formatting issues. All fixed! X

  5. Very helpfull pictures, thanks! I am in the need of a new palette as my Naked palette (the first) is getting quite empty. Do you honestly feel this Chocolate palette is in the same quality range as the naked 1? I am debating between two palettes from Too Faced: This Chocolatebar one, or the return of the sexy palette. Any thoughts?
