Last weekend we celebrated my sister's 28th birthday by going out to lunch. When getting ready I used a few new products, as well as some old favourites, and I was really happy with the result. The look didn't photograph as well as I would have liked but oh well, I can still talk you through it.
I started off by using the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, a product that I'm still playing with but, so far, think it's worth the hype. Next I used the L'Oreal True Match Foundation in N2, Vanilla. This is another product that I'm experimenting with but really enjoying. I used a combination of an old favourite, the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Concealer in the brightening shade, and MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 to concealer dark circles and any discolouration. To set all that, I dusted Too Faced's Primed and Poreless Loose Powder all over my face.
To add some colour back to the face, NARS' Laguna Powder Bronzer was called upon, as always. I used Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow to freshen up my face a little. I love how cool toned blushes brighten up my complexion. Finally for the face, I threw caution to the win and pulled out MAC's Soft and Gentle, a product I've not been impressed with in the past. Surprisingly I really like it this time. Could it be that this is growing on me?
I always start off my eye look by defining my brows. This time I filled them in with MAC's Wedge eyeshadow (not featured in photo above) and I set it with the Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep. To prime my lids I used Painterly Paint Pot by MAC. It neutralises discolouration on the lids and creates a base for the shadows to stick to. For eyeshadows I reached for the Maybelline Eye Studio Hyper Diamonds Eyeshadow Palette in Hyper Berry. I recently opened a new tube of one of my all time favourite mascaras, Estee Lauder's Sumptuous Bold Volume, so of course I applied it, adding Clinique's Bottom Lash Mascara on the bottom lashes.
With the weather cooling down I finally decided to embrace the vampy lip so I threw on the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Plum Russian. The lip colour is a lot more vampy and a lot less red than the photos make it out to be, I promise.
What do you think of this look? Are there any products you'd like to see reviewed? What have you already tried?
