Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat Review

I was shopping my stash recently when I came across this bad boy, the Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat. This beautiful eyeshadow palette has been in my make up collection for a little bit over a year now and has made its way in and out of my daily eye look within the time.

The Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat is a fairly neutral palette that contains a selection of beautiful shades that'll transition anyone into autumn perfectly. Sure, it's a perfect all year palette but there's something about two of the shimmer shades that just says 'Hello, cool weather' to me. That might just be my love of this palette and winter combining though, if I'm honest.

As you can see from the swatches above, the colours in this palette are really lovely. They're also really well pigmented, probably better than what you can see above. The colour on the far left is a beautiful copper shade. It would look beautiful with any eye colour but it makes my blue eyes pop. I use it as an all over lid colour most of the time. Whilst the matte shade isn't anything special, I really like how warm it is. It's a great crease/transition colour, especially when the copper shade is used in on the lid. The middle champagne shade is so beautiful. It can be used as a lid colour or, of course, as an inner corner highlight and I've loved it whichever way I've used it. Next we have a brown/taupe shade that throws a lot of khaki shimmer. It's a really pretty shade that's quite unique and, if I'm honest, it's my least used shade in the palette. Finally we have a really rich brown shade. This is quite warm, again, and I think it's a beautiful colour that can be used as a liner or to deepen the outer v/crease.

The formula of the eyeshadows in the Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat is amazing. Truly. They all apply so nicely and I've never had any fall out, not even from the shimmer shades! Whilst the mattes aren't as easy to blend as the shimmer shades, that's a characteristic of matte eyeshadows across the board and they're still very easy to work with.

All of the colours in this palette work extremely well together, something you would hope from a palette of this nature. Every shade in the Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat has a purpose and, used alone or separately, are lovely. The results of a look with this palette can be dramatically altered depending on one's use of lid colour. I haven't found a combination I didn't like yet!

I've raved on and on about the eyeshadows in this palette so I thought I'd quickly touch on the packaging. The Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat is housed in the beautiful gold packaging that Estee Lauder is known for. It's extremely sturdy and has a great sized mirror. As you can see from the photos above and below, it also came with two applicators. Whilst they weren't the worst applicators I've seen (one could even pass as a tiny brush) I've somehow managed to lose them in collection. Oops.

The Estee Lauder Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Desert Heat is a beautiful eyeshadow palette that I'd highly recommend. At $90.00AU it's definitely an investment, however the colours are so lovely and neutral that I think it could easily become a staple in one's make up bag. I also think this would make a beautiful gift for a friend or family member.

Have you tried any Estee Lauder eyeshadows before? What did you think of them? This is my first time using them however I definitely want to try more now. Would you recommend any in particular?
