The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash Review

If you've been following Born to Buy lately you will probably know that I've been switching up my skincare. I've done a couple of hauls (here and here) lately featuring the new products I've picked up and now I'm putting them all to the test. I recently picked up the The Body Shop's Aloe Gentle Facial Wash and, while I wasn't a fan of that, I have been really liking their Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash.

The Body Shop's Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash is a gel cleanser that can be foamed into a lather that's satisfying enough to make me feel like I'm really getting the job of cleansing done. Some people aren't a fan of gel cleansers, I know, but I honestly feel like they're the only thing that does a good job of cleansing my combination to oily skin, even though I know that's probably not the case.

I have been using the Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash for two, almost three, months now and I'm really enjoying it. I feel like it cleanses my skin well without leaving it feeling tight or dehydrated. It removes excess make up and oil from the day and I've also found that it's gentle enough to use day and I night. I'm currently using it in the morning only so I can test another face wash, however I was previously using it morning and night and had no issues.

My only with this cleanser is, once again, that it has Menthol in it. I just don't like the idea of menthol on the face. I didn't actually realise this until I read the ingredients, though now I know I do notice a cooling feeling that could only be attributed to menthol. It does a good job of cleansing so I'll continue to use it, though I might not be completely opposed to replacing it in the future.

The Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash from The Body Shop retails for $18.95 for a 100mL tube which I don't think is that bad!

Have you tried this or any other product from The Body Shop? What's your go-to cleanser?

  1. I prefer gel cleansers and this sounds good, except like you, I'm not too fond of menthol. Thanks for the review! I'm really curious about this seaweed line :)

    1. We have very similar skin issues and concerns. I like it! Gel cleansers just feel like they get things done more effectively. Menthol is something I try and stay away from but alas, here I am, using it. Oops! If you're not too keen on Seaweed, I'd look at the ingredients on the products thoroughly. A few have seemed to have menthol. X

  2. I'm using my second tube of this cleanser and I whip it out when I'm having not good skin weeks.
I really want to try their mattifying cream as well.

    1. Glad that it works for you during bad skin periods. I'm hoping to have just found another one that'll do that for me. The Mattifying Day Cream? I have it and I'm pretty Switzerland about it. I don't love it, nor do I hate it. I'm not sure if it's moisturising enough. X
