Australian Summer Beauty Saviours

The pasts few months have been incredibly hot in Australia and it honestly doesn't seem like Mother Nature has any plans to cool things down any time soon. When I say hot I really mean it.  We're talking 35 degrees + (or, for my US sisters, that's approximately 95 degrees fahrenheit) on an almost daily basis. If you know me at all you'll know that I really don't cope with the heat. Even though I am really struggling, there are a few products that make things a little easier in this weather.

I have been using La Roche-Posay's Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid for the past few months I'm really impressed by it. It has a really thin consistency, meaning it's really lightweight and perfect for under make up. To hydrate my skin, I've been reaching for the Aesop Oil-Free Facial Hydrating Serum more than anything else. Again, it's a really lightweight product that provides a great amount of hydration. It's really refreshing to apply and is absorbed into the skin really quickly, meaning there's no residue or shine. I remembered I was out of a body suncream when I was at the shop recently so I picked up the IGA 30+ SPF Dry Touch Sunscreen Lotion and it's the only one I'll use these days. The dry touch means that it has a matte, barely there finish which I much prefer to those that you can feel long after they're applied.
Not much has changed as far as my make up goes. I still use a lot of the products featured in my All Day Full Coverage Face post as I find they prolong the wear of my face products better than anything else. I have been reaching for mattifying face products though, with the Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ and bare Minerals Matte SPF15 Foundation being my top base bits. They both keep my face as matte as possible throughout the the day, bearing in mind that it's incredibly hot = extra oil product.

Whilst the products listed above haven't helped to combat the heat, they have definitely been crucial parts of my beauty routines and I'm not sure what I'd have done without some of them. I haven't really been sunburnt either, even in these super harsh conditions, so I can definitely attest to the products with SPF.

How are you coping with the heat? What are your summer saviours?

  1. Great post. I really need to start wearing sunscreen! And the foundations sound great.

    1. I've only just started wearing it, Sheri. I catch public transport to and from work and, in doing so, I'm exposing my skin to the sun a lot. I decided it was probably time to start protecting it. :/ x
