Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser* Review

I have heard a lot of hype about Philosophy products in beauty cyber world, especially about their Purity Made Simple Cleanser*. Last year I jumped at the opportunity to try this bad boy but, being happy with my skincare routine at the time, I put it to the back burner. Last month I bought myself a Christmas present in the shape of a Clarisonic (haul here) so I pulled this out of my drawer and put it to use.

After a few week use, let's get into what I think!

The first thing I noticed about the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser* was the scent, purely because it is nothing like what I expected. Philosophy is known for their delicious, baked good style scents so I just expected this to smell like that, sweet and delicious. On the contrast, it actually smells quite natural.

In terms of actual cleansing, I'm not sure how it goes by itself but it's really great to use with my Clarisonic. I always try to double cleanse my skin and I find this makes an amazing first cleanse, whether I'm wearing make up or not. Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be a great second cleanse as well, I just tend to go for something more targeted towards my skin concerns as my second.

I have been really surprised at how well the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser* removes make up. As I said, I've used it to cleanse off my make up on days where I really could not be bothered with the MAC Cleanse Off Oil and it does a great job.

The Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser* works itself into a nice lather without being foaming at all, meaning it's a lot less drying on the skin than a lot of cleansers I've used in the past. It leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed without being stripped of necessary oils and good bits.

Personally, I would recommend the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser* to anyone who's looking for a good stock standard cleanser. If you're after something that's going to just cleanse the skin and prepare it for additional products, this could be for you. If you're after a cleanser to target specific skin concerns, I'd say you may want to keep looking.

Philosophy products are available at all David Jones stores and have been since August. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser* retails at $15.00 for 90mL, $30.00 for 240mL and $45.00 for 480mL.

Have you tried Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser*? What did you think of it?

*This product was sent to me, however all opinions are my own. I was not paid for this review

    1. It's nice, yeah, but you're right, it's all about your skim type and using what works for you. X

    1. I have heard that it can be quite irritating, yeah, but I've not yet had an issue. It seems to be one of those products people either love or hate. I have been using it as my first cleanse so I can remove irritants with the second cleanse as a precaution. X
