I have a real love affair with foundations and I find myself trying a lot of them. I've decided that I'd bust out the foundations in my collection for a series called Foundation Files. I'll talk about the ones I love, as well as the ones I don't like so much, by splitting them up into categories, with my first being High End Foundations.
I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to high end beauty. I'll be sucked into the a brand, a product name and amazing packaging but, ultimately, I buy high end foundations on the recommendations of other people, mainly YouTube gurus and bloggers. I almost always get a sample of a high end foundation before purchasing it, purely because they're such an investment!
Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touché ÉclatThis foundation is a huge favourite that's totally out of character for me. It is a light to medium coverage foundation that is somewhat buildable. It has a beautiful finish and I think it's definitely worth the price tag. When I want a natural, yet polished look, this is the foundation I continue to reach for.
Make Up For Ever HD Foundation*
The Make Up For Ever HD Foundation is a product that was super hyped about in the beauty community about a year ago. I have a full review of it but, basically, I was impressed by it but not blown away. I like it more now that my skin has cleared up and I wouldn't recommend it to people that have textured/blemish prone skin as the texture can be quite noticeable.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
I have completely fallen for this foundaiton. It has great coverage, longevity and, from what I could tell, a fantastic colour selection. This is definitely a product that I reach for when I know I need a face that's going to last on me.
Make Up For Ever's Make Velvet+ Foundation*
This foundation is lovely. It's perfect for days where you know you want your make up to last all day and/or night and, more so, it has great oil control. It lasts just as well as the foundation above, though the oil control is a lot better.
MAC Studio Fix
Finally, my love affair with this foundation is officially over. It was a good foundation when I had nothing to compare it to but now my Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touché Éclat and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup put it to shame.
