Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Acne Cleanser Review

A while ago (in March, to be exact) I blogged about my sensitive skin flip out and my mission to find the perfect skincare routine. I spent a few weeks using the Clean & Clear Advantage Pimple Control Kit and, when I was satisfied that my skin didn't hate those Clean & Clear products I decided I had to try the Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Acne Cleanser, especially after reading reviews by Jasmine and Jaci
I have been using the Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Acne Cleanser for almost five months now (I only finished the tube last week too, can you believe it?) and it was only the other day that I realised I never reviewed this. Oops. Let's get into it!

The Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Acne Cleanser contains 5% benzoyl peroxide which really scared me to begin with. I was concerned that either my skin wouldn't like that acne treatment and, therefore, flip out again after calming down or be way too harsh for my skin, drying it out and creating new problems. Much to my surprise, however, neither was the case!

I tend to opt for gel cleansers so when I opened the Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Acne Cleanser and found out it was a cream formula I was a little apprehensive. I didn't need to be though because, in fact, I feel like it gives my face a better clean than some gel cleansers. The cream formula means it does is its job and cleans well, however it doesn't strip the skin or leave it with that infamous squeaky clean feeling.

I use this cleanser in the evening after I use the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant because I feel like that's when it most beneficial. I squeeze a pea sized amount into the palm of my hand, add a tiny bit of water, work into a small lather and cleanse. I know I don't need to lather it but.. I do. I don't feel like my face is clean unless there's a few bubbles involved, even if they're tiny. To see the other products I use it in conjunction with, click here

The Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Acne Cleanser has a slight medicinal smell to it. I'm sure some people will find it overpowering but, if I'm honest, I like it. It smells like it's really doing something..

Finally, and most importantly, I think this has been really beneficial for my skin. As I mentioned, I started using a cocktail of new products around the same time and, as a whole routine, my skin is the best it's been in years but I don't know what I can put down to this specific product. All I can say is that my skin has minimal break outs (though they still exist), less oil and is far less dehydrated.

If you've tried this cleanser, let me know what you think! If you use a different blemish fighting cleanser, let me know what it is. Maybe I'll be experimental and try something else. Who am I kidding though? I don't experiment with my skincare so I probably won't.. Still tell me though!

Always look your best,
Sophie
