August Favourites, 2013

It's August 29 and, with only two days of the month left, it's time to do a monthly favourites, don't you think? This month I've pulled out a few old products, as well as fallen in love with some recent additions to my collection, and, as always, I have a lot to show you!

I was going to tell you guys a little bit about my month but, to be honest, this month hasn't been too exciting for me. I've have a couple of 21st birthday parities and, apart from work, I haven't had time to do much else. I'm really excited for the next few months but stay tuned 'til the end of the post for that!

This month I've been mixing my MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC20 with my Revlon Colorstay Foundation for combination/oily skin in #180 Sand Beige. The Revlon Colorstay is too yellow for me and the MAC Studio Fix Fluid is too pale and they work so well when mixed together. It creates the perfect color!
I used to only use eyeshadows to define my eyebrows but I've fallen completely in love with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Ash. It's a lot easier to use than I expected and I love the way it makes my brows look. I can't even think about going back to using a powder, not even my beloved MAC Wedge eyeshadow. That brings me onto another favourite, my MAC eyeshadow palette. I love this palette. I chose all the eyeshadows in the palette and I think they're all beautiful (if I can say so myself). At the moment my favourite is still MAC's Cranberry but it changes. A lot.
Lips is where I always get my craziest. I think lips are the easiest to experiment with and I'm always finding new favourites or discovering old ones. MAC's lipglasses in Pink Lemonade and Viva Glam Nicki are both beautiful and versatile colours. On days where I'm wearing a fair bit on the lips, they're subtle enough to balance it out, but on days where I'm rocking a more natural look they completely brighten up the face. Even though it's still cold here in Perth, I've pulled out my MAC Lipstick in Creme Cup for some reason and I've rekindled my love for it. Even in this weather it's an amazing lipstick. To prep my lips for all of the lip products I just mentioned, I love to use my fairly new Dior Crème De Rose Plumping Lip Balm at night.
aaaand finally we have the token La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo shoutout. It wouldn't be a post in a beauty blog without it, would it? I didn't think it was doing anything to start with but, after continuous use, I've noticed two things; My breakout when I was unwell was nothing more than a pimple or two and I have far less blackheads on my nose now. This is the only thing in my whole skincare routine that's changed so I'm going to put all the changes down to the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo.

What have you been loving this month? Next month I'm looking forward to being one month closer to meeting my new nephews. Yep, there's more than one. Both my sisters are pregnant, with one being due in October and the other in December, and I can't wait to meet these beautiful little boys. Do you have anything exciting planned for this month? Also, have you tried any of the things I mentioned? Let me know!

Always look your best,
Sophie

  1. No wonder why you love these products. They all seem to be great products that are worth trying. I have also used the La roche-posay and I so love it. I even repurchase it.

  3. Those are some nice products! This post reminds me that I haven't posted my monthly faves post yet (I'm always late in doing that ;p). It's really nice to read your posts, by the way ;)
