MAC Studio Finish Concealer SPF 35 Review

As I'm sure you know, my skin isn't the best. With that in mind, I feel that it's important to be using a concealer that I really love and I have made no secret of the fact that I absolutely love the MAC Studio Finish Concealer. I featured it in my April Favourites, as well as my recent collective MAC haul, and I just can't say good things enough about it. Given that this is a review, however, I'm sure you want a little bit more than that so I'll try my best to tell you why I love it so much.

"A lightweight, creamy, discreetly opaque concealer. Provides a smooth, long-wearing invisible coverage for all skin blemishes. Water-resistant, fragrance-free and non-acgenic. This emollient-based, lightweight concealer is so concentrated that a tiny amount can provide opaque coverage of the skin's imperfections and discolouration. It effectively covers dark circles, blemishes, moles, tattoos and birthmarks. Enriched with antioxidants (derivatives of Vitamin A and Vitamin E), it also contains Silica to help absorb the skin's oils. Concealer has an SPF of 35 and is available in a wide range of colours. It can be applied with a medium to firm fiber brush, a later sponge or the fingertips"

The MAC Studio Finish Concealer is a fantastic all rounder. It's great for covering blemishes, neutralising pigmentation and getting rid of those damned shadows in the inner corners of the eyes (side note: does anyone else get that?!). For someone with such an extensive make up collection (but it could always be bigger, of course), it's not often that I reach for one product to do a number of things but this is an exception!

You may have noticed that I don't use this product under my eyes. I have occasionally and, to be honest, I don't know why I don't. I find my concealer settles in that area so, as a general rule, I tend to use something a little lighter. I didn't notice any excessive creasing when I did use it under eyes. Maybe I need to use it there more!

More often than not I apply the MAC Studio Finish Concealer with the Real Techniques Detailer Brush. This super fine brush picks up the right amount of product to dot onto any blemish. It's also a great size and shape to apply product to the inner corners of the eyes and to stroke it across areas of high pigmentation (that's generally my cheeks so I apply a few likes like I'm a warrior). From there, I generally use the tool I've used to apply my foundation (normally it's a buffing brush or a Beauty Blender) or I'll pat it in with a finger. Either way, I find the result to be beautiful. It just depends on what mood I'm in!

I find this concealer last really well for me. I always set it with a powder, much like any foundation or concealer that I use, and it always lasts the day. The longevity of concealer is a deal breaker for me. There's nothing worse than the look of concealer  wearing off!

I wear this concealer in the colour NW20 and it's a perfect match for me. It blends seamlessly into my foundation and is completely undetectable, another deal breaker! This concealer is so highly pigmented that I'm fairly confident that it'll last me that best part of 6 months at least! At only $29.00, I recommend this concealer to everyone and anyone.

Have you tried this concealer before? What did you think of it? If you have any questions about this product, please leave them below and I'll be sure to answer them!

Always look your best,
Sophie

  1. Might have to go pick this up when I get some income! Reading reviews is EVIL when you're broke. :(
