UPDATED Skincare Routine: My Morning Routine

I've never proclaimed to have perfect skin. Hell, I've never even said I have good skin. As I've said countless times on this blog, my skin is very temperamental; one minute it's good and the next it's terrible. To see one of my latest skin explosions, click here

If you've been following my blog for a while, you'll know that, for a long time, I swore by LUSH Cosmetics' skincare line. To see how that skincare line worked for my skin, click here. After using their skincare for the best part of a year, my skin stopped responding positively to their products so I thought it was time to try something new.

I've given my skincare routine a compete overhaul so I decided to give you guys an update. I'm really happy with this routine but, don't get me wrong, I still have breakouts and am still very much prone to spots. This routine just minimises that and helps tackle blemishes before they become huge problems.

Given that I have three separate skincare routines (morning, removing make up and evening/night), I decided I'd do three posts!

Before I start, I figure I should give you a tiny bit of insight into my skin. I have combination/oily skin that's quite prone to blemishes. It can be quite dehydrated.

To see what I use in the morning, keep reading!

1. Cleanse
This cleanser is part of the Clean & Clear Advantage Pimple Control Kit and is my favourite for my morning cleanse. It foams up nicely (I know lots of people stay away from foaming cleansers but, hey, I like them..) and leaves my skin feeling nice and clean. Because it's part of the Advantage Pimple Control Kit, this cleanser has salicylic acid in it. Given that's it's on the face for a matter of seconds, I doubt that has time to do a lot but it's still nice to know!

2. Tone
If I have the toner from the kit available to use, I will use that. If not I use the Clean & Clear Essentials Oil-Control Toner. They both work quite nicely for me and, once again, both have salicylic acid in them. If you're wondering why I use both toners, the one in the kit is only 45mL so doesn't last very long. The Essentials Oil-Control Toner is 100mL so lasts a lot longer.

3. Moisturise
To moisturise I use the Clean & Clear Essentials Moisturiser with SPF 15*. I love how light this moisturiser is, making it perfect for underneath foundation. Once again, this product has salicylic acid in it (funnily enough, I didn't know that until I checked when writing this post). I also love that this moisturiser has an SPF. In saying that, I'd love to get a bit more SPF into my morning skincare routine. If you can recommend a lightweight daily moisturiser with a higher sun protection factor, please let me know!

4. Eye Cream
Finally, I pat the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream on my under eye area every morning. I've been finding that my mascara (I've tried a couple so I know it's not the product) has been transferring to my under eye area and I think this might be the reason why. I think I'll just be going back to using this as night.

* - Indicates products that were provided for review or as a PR sample. Whilst I was sent this product, it is a part of my routine because I genuinely like it.

** Throughout this series you're going to see a lot of Clean & Clear. I want to preface this by saying yes, Clean and Clear did send me one of their Advantage Pimple Control Kits about a year ago but, since then, I've repurchased it at least twice. Why? I love them.

Anyway, that's Part One of my UPDATED Skincare Routine series. Stay tuned for a post on how I remove my make up!

What products make up your morning skincare routine? Have you tried any of these products? What do you think of them?

Always look your best,
Sophie

  1. I used to use clean and clear as a teen, I really liked their toner.

Now I am using Models Prefer pore refining range, but it has been drying out the top of my cheek bones (though I admit, it is probably because I don't use the moisturiser enough)

    1. I used the skincare line years ago but stopped using it quite some time ago, thinking it was more for greasy, pimply teens. It's worked for my skin though so hey, I'm not complaining! I haven't tried the Models Prefer skincare. A rose hip oil might help the dry patches? x

  2. Good post hun! I love seeing what other people use on their skin! To be honest, because I'm constantly reviewing skincare, I'm constantly changing skincare, I think it actually works good for my skin! I think sometimes my skin gets "bored" haha!

    1. Thanks! There's more coming tomorrow. I wish I could switch products a lot but I can't. My skin is super sensitive and one slight change stuffs it up for weeks. I added and removed products over about two months to get this routine and, even now, I have break outs. :( xx
