Picture this: I'm sitting on the train, minding my own business and making notes about a few posts I want to upload. I happen to look up and that's when I see her; the girl applying her make up on the train. Badly. Her foundation was oxidising before my very eyes and, in the process of applying it, she smudged her poorly applied black eyeshadow all the way from the outer corner of her eye to her hair line, just above her ear. It was not good.
Not only was I quite 'offended' by what I saw (let's face it, ain't nobody got time for that), but it got me thinking; surely she isn't the only person to apply her make up on the train? Post idea! I've basically thought about what I would consider to be the most 'train friendly' make up look, using tried and tested products, and I wanted to share it with you all today!
I'm going to talk you guys through a simple make up look that I think it train appropriate and, at the end of this post, I'll recommend products that I think would be perfect. Let's get into it!

Please, I beg of you, start with a base that is a perfect match for your skintone! Remember you don't have access to a big mirror to ensure everything's blended, all you have is a compact mirror. A light coverage foundation, tinted moisturiser or BB cream will work because as they're least likely to look cakey and they'll need the least amount of 'work'. Ideally I'd recommend a foundation primer too but that might not be feasible, it depends on how much you want to carry etc. Some BB creams have inbuilt primers etc. so that might be something to look into if you're after a double duty product.
Your skin might be good enough that you don't need a concealer. If so, win, but I love having concealer readily available. It's my security blanket of sorts. For on the go concealing, I recommend a potted concealer of, if you like a more liquid product, a concealer in the form of a clicky pen. Anything else would get messy.
I have somewhat oily skin so I always carry a compact powder and mini kabuki brush in my bag so setting my foundation is a given. If you don't need to do that, though, lucky! It's one less step for you!
Given that brushes can be a hassle (I've assumed foundation and concealer are will be applied with fingers), cream blush seems like the most practical option. Not only can cream blushes be applied to the cheeks with fingers, most also work really well on the lips also. To apply cream blush to the cheeks fingers, I pat two to three dots on the apples of each cheek then blend it out with, once again, a patting motion.
I'm not taking contouring into considering with this look. Bronzer/contouring products can be quite unforgiving and you don't want to mess up! You also only have a very tiny mirror so it just doesn't seem feasible to me. If it's an essential part of your make up routine and you think you can happily contour on the train, go right ahead!
If you don't want to apply colour to your eyelids, I recommend tapping a bit of your powder on your lids to minimise shine. If you want a bit of colour, go for a cream eyeshadow. They tend to last well on the lids (go for one you know doesn't crease or fade throughout the day) and can be applied with that one finger. There's no need for brushes! I would go for lighter cream shadows as, in my opinion, they're more forgiving.
I wouldn't be going anywhere near my eyeballs with eyeliner on the train. Trains are jerky and I like my eyes too much to risk, you know, poking one out. If you do want to apply it on the train, maybe wait until stops at a train station to apply it? I think the same goes for mascara. I'd probably be more inclined to wait the train is stopped to apply it or sneak to a bathroom when I get off the train to do it.
As far as lips goes, that's pretty easy! Just do what you would normally. I wouldn't go for a super bright lipstick incase I stuff it up, but I'm the queen or paranoia and a big perfectionist so I'd want to choose something a bit more wearable or go for one of the million lip products that I have in my bag at all times.
This whole 'look' doesn't require any brushes but, if you're someone that hates using their hands or does it on a regular basis, a mini brush kit like the Real Techniques Travel Kit might be a perfect handbag kit. It contains the Essential Foundation Brush, Domed Shadow Brush and Multi Task Brush!

Oooh I loved this post, so creative. I don't think I would have the skills to apply my makeup well on the train! It would be a disaster!
