February Favourites, 2013

This month's beauty favourites aren't that exciting. I've been staying home and applying for jobs a lot so I haven't actually worn make up as much as much as normal. You'd think that might mean my skin has had time to breath and it looking beautiful, right? Wrong. It's a hot mess at the moment and I think I'm in need of a new skincare routine. Needless to say, my skin products are not featuring in this month's favourites post.

I rediscovered my NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc this month. With Project Pan still in full force, I'm using products I haven't dug out in a while to prevent me from falling into a make up rut. Someone please remind me why I stopped using this foundation. Well no, I know why I stopped. I think I'm a shade or two darker than the colour I currently own. Whilst it's a little pale, a sweep of bronzer around the perimeter even things out perfectly.

Another NARS product, Orgasm powder blush, is one of the most reached for products in my collection and one of my favourite blushes by far. Whilst I thought it was an overrated product for a long time, I've since teamed it with the perfect brush and now it's a match made in heaven.

MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle was welcomed into my make up collection with open arms this month thanks to my sister! At this stage I'm not sure whether I love this because it's such a coveted product that I finally own or because I actually like the product but, either way, I've used it almost every day since I got it.

As I mentioned in my I ♥ Drugstore Makeup TAG, one of my favourite cosmetics brands is Essence. I have so many products from them and I'm rarely disappointed. Last month I featured their Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow in #09 For Fairies in my favourites post and I fell in love with another colour from the range this month. The Essence Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow in #02 Glammy Goes To is a shimmery taupe/bronze colour and is absolutely beautiful. It is a great base for eye looks and makes the best 'lazy day' eye colour. I am in love with these cream eyeshadows, guys.

A few lip products really stood out to me this month. As always, I found myself reaching for MAC's Creme Cup Cremesheen lipstick a lot. It's my 'go to' lipstick and I reach for it whenever I have no idea what I want to wear. The weather has been so hot in Perth this month so I pulled out my 1 Skin Solution Lip Butters. Whilst I've used them a lot this month, I found that Guava Lemonade is the one I've been gravitating towards. I love these lip products all year round but think they're absolutely perfect for summer. I'm not even sure why. For a gloss, I love MAC's Pink Lemonade. It's beautiful. That's all I can say about it.

Finally, this month I pulled out hand cream I received a while back. The Swisse Hand Cream with Vitamin D and Pomegranate was sent to me in my November 2012 Bellabox. My hands felt really dry this month and, given that I'm not allowed to buy my beloved Soap and Glory Hand Food, I used whatever I could. This hand cream is a lot heavier than what I'm used to but I've really enjoyed using it. I've almost finished the tube and I must admit, I'm a little disappointed.

What have you been loving this month? This favourite post isn't as long as some I've uploaded, but these are the only products that really stood out to me. Quality over quantity, right?
Always look your best,
Sophie

  1. That happens to me too! When I stop putting on makeup all the time it's like my skin freak outs out at me!

    1. Eurgh. It's ridiculous, isn't it? You'd think skin would improve but nooo. I think mine is starting to clear up. We'll see.. xx

    1. It's bizarre. I thought wearing less make up might give my skin some time to breathe but it appears not. Oops! Giving some new products a try so hopefully things improve. Do you have any recommendations? x

  3. I seriously think it was just the weather in Feb. My skin which had been so calm just broke out constantly I was one big greasy oil slick with the most unattractive pimples. Sigh. I also got the Swisse hand cream and while I love the smell I'm not super impressed with the quality.
