First Impressions: MAC Face & Body Foundation

January 18, 2013 | , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
A few weeks ago I grabbed a sample from MAC's Face and Body Foundation in N2. I've wanted to try it for a while now and I figured it was as good a time as any to give it a try, no?
A fluid foundation that provides low-to-medium build-able coverage and a flawless, natural satin-shine finish. Skin conditioning, water resistant and long wearing.
- Mac Cosmetics
My skin's cleared up a lot lately, meaning that, on occasion, I want to get away with having a lower coverage foundation. Plus, well, I love to try something new.

This foundation applied very differently to others that I use on a regular basis. It felt more sticky once applied, something I'm not used to. It wasn't an unpleasant feeling and it went away quickly, but it was definitely something to note. I also found that I used less of this foundation than I do normally, partly due to the fact that I was using a sample of the product and wanted to have enough for at least one more application.

In saying that, however, this foundation applied very nicely. As mentioned above, the finish was initially quite tacky but, once dried, it had a somewhat dewy finish. Given that I have normal/oily skin, I set it with a powder. This may not have been necessary but I was heading out for the day and no one wants to become a grease ball, not even in the name of testing a new product.

Finally, let's talk about the coverage of this product! It's not as high as I am used to and, therefore, it will definitely take some getting used to. In saying that, however, I always use concealer and a pressed powder with coverage, resulting in a level of coverage that I was really happy with. I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't be happy using this buy itself but it fits perfectly into my foundation routine.
All in all, I'm feeling very confused about this product. I've only tried it once so I think I need to give it another chance before I decide either way. It's a tough 'un. I have a MYER giftcard that I may use to purchase it if I decide I like it but we'll see.

What do you think of the foundation? Have you given it a try?

  1. Have you tried it on your body? I'm very interested to know how it dries on the legs or if it's just going to wipe right off.
