My Girl Crushes..

This week has been a really exciting one for me. Two of my favourite female artists, Taylor Swift and Delta Goodrem, have released new albums this week (Taylor's came out on 23/10 here in Aus, and Delta's comes out today!). This is Delta's first album in four years so, as I'm sure you can imagine, I'm very excited. These two artists have to be two of my biggest girl crushes of all time so I figured this was as good a time as any two write a post on my Girl Crushes.

Delta Goodrem
Delta Goodrem is my ultimate girl crush and, if I want to get all mushy, my total inspiration. If you know me personally, well, at all, you'll know this and, to be honest, I'm sure you're quite sick of hearing about her. Not only is Delta on of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, she's incredibly talented. I could talk about Delta all day. Seriously.

I really love the way she rocks her look too. She's incredibly diverse with her style, including her hair and makeup, yet always manages to look boho, chic and classy as hell!

I had the opportunity to meet Delta at a recent performance in Perth and, let me tell you, it was one of the most exciting days of my life. I'm pretty sure I just said 'ILOVEYOU, CANIHUGYOU?' and then got so nervous I was basically hyperventilating but that's okay, right?

Also, before I go (I told you I could go on and on), my birthday (8th of July) is featured in Delta's song Extraordinary Day from her second album, Mistaken Identity. If that's not fate, I don't know what is.

(Oh, also, she managed to score an Irish man with a beautiful accent. That earns her a million points in my books!)

Taylor Swift
I'm a big Taylor Swift fan. It doesn't go to the level of obsession that it does with Delta, but it's still somewhat unhealthy. If I'm honest, I've always been a fan of country music (fun fact: Kasey Chambers was my first concert back in 2004) so I love the way she manages to merge country and pop music to create the perfect balance.

As much as it sometimes annoys me that all of her songs are about her past relationships (that girl sure can get around!), I still love them.

Once again, as with Delta, I also love her style. If anyone can pull off winged liner and a red lip, Taylor can! Not only does she pull it off, she rocks it! Her style is also impeccable. Her vintage style is one to be envied, as she incorporates timeless pieces into her modern look.

Anne Hathaway
Sure I like Anne because of her roles in movies such as The Princess Diaries (I'm still a 10 year old girl) but, for me, my crush on her is not a result of her success, her clothes or her beauty, it's because of what she stands for. Anne Hathaway is an incredible advocate for people in same sex relationships. Many of my closest friends are in relationships with people of the same gender and I really enjoy reading about what Anne stands for, especially the way she speaks of the subject.
"There are people who have said that I'm being brave for being openly supportive of gay marriage, gay rights, basically of gay rights. But, with all due respect, I humbly dissent. I'm not being brave, I'm being a decent human being. I don't think I should receive an award for that or for merely stating what I believe to be true; that love is a human experience and not a political statement. However, I acknowledge that sadly we live in a world where not everybody feels the same. My family and I will help the good fight continue until that long awaited moment arrives, when our rights are equal and when the political limits on love have been squashed."
- Anne Hathaway
In 2008 Anne accepted the Human Rights Campaign's Ally for Equality Award. Anne's acceptance speech was absolutely incredible, with the quote above being an excerpt from it. If you'd like to watch the whole video, click here. It's seriously awesome.

If that doesn't show what sort of person she is, this might. If you keep up with your celebrity gossip you was recently married (on September 29, 2012). Whilst most celebrities sell their wedding snaps to the magazine willing to pay the most, Anne had other ideas. Yes, she has sold her images to a magazine, however a proceed of the money will be donated to a not for profit organisation that advocates for same sex marriages. Why? So same sex people can have their own fairytale wedding.

So, everyone, those are my top three girl crushes. I could go on for ages (next comes Alexis Bledel and Blake Lively, both purely for their amazing hair), but I had to put a stop to it somewhere.
As I mentioned above, Taylor and Delta have both released albums this week, Red and Child of the Universe. Are you a fan? What did you think of their new stuff?

More importantly, everyone, who are your crushes, male or female? I always find this really interesting and I'd love to read about it. Comment below!

Please note: Anything that I deem as offensive (both to myself or potentially to others) will be deleted. Please express your opinions in a sensitive manner.

Always look your best,
Sophie
