Which NARS foundation?

As I mentioned in my NARS Sheer Glow foundation review, I've been looking into purchasing a full sized Sheer Glow foundation ever since I received a sample of this foundation in Santa Fe and fell in love. I managed to score the sample in October of last year and, although I am aware that the colour was all wrong for me, I instantly fell in love with the product.

Since obtaining the first sample I've been back to Mecca Cosmetics three times to be colour matched and I've been matched to a different colour every single time. Yep, that's four colour matches and four different shades. Sigh.
  • Shade #1 - Santa Fe: Medium with peachy undertones
  • Shade #2 - Deauville: Light with neutral balance of pink and yellow undertones
  • Shade #3 - Fiji: Light with yellow undertone
  • Shade #4 - Mont Blanc: Light with pink undertones
Left to Right: Santa Fe, Deauville, Fiji and Mont Blanc
As your can see from the photo, there is quite a large variance between the colours. I am in no way having a 'go' at the beauty consultants, as everyone wants different finishes/effects from their foundation, but it's been difficult to know which shade will best suit me when four people tell me four different things.

The sample I received most recently, Mont Blanc, has been the most suited to my skintone. I was really impressed with the lady that colour matched me this time. I explained to her that I was apprehensive about buying the foundation, even though I really wanted it, because I couldn't figure out what colour I would be and she was really apologetic that she matched me to a fourth colour. After using the sample she provided to me, I'm 90% sure that I'll be purchasing the NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Mont Blanc.

Also, ladies and gents, something pretty exciting has happened. Since post my NARS Sheer Glow foundation review the price of the Sheer Glow/Matte foundations at Mecca has decreased from $99.00AUD to $79.00AUD.

I'm so happy to finally know which colour I want to buy, especially now it's $20.00 cheaper. The price of a lot of NARS products at Mecca has gone down recently. I have a fairly large NARS shopping list since the make up artist did my make up last week (I think I love their Orgasm blush, just like everyone else) so it's good to know the prices are more 'reasonable'.

I hope to buy the foundation within the next week or two, depending on when I can get back to the city, but I'll be letting you all know as soon as I get it. I'm going to be so excited.

Anyway, ladies, that's it for now. Comment below if you've had colour issues/inconsistencies and how you managed to sort them out!

Always look your best,
Sophie

  3. I agree from your photos Mont Blanc looks most suitable to your skintone. I wear Deauville but I have a slight yellow/olive undertone to my skin. That's great news Mecca have dropped their prices. NARS is so overpriced in there. I purchased mine from KissandMakeup about 1.5yrs ago. Still love it.

    1. Hi, Klara. I agree. I've been looking at going through Kiss&MakeUp for a couple of weeks now but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to order it online or have it NOW! I was also apprehensive because their foundations don't come with a pump.
Anyway, last night I 'bit the bullet' and ordered the foundation from Kiss&MakeUp. Silly me, I didn't realise they sold the pumps separately.

  5. Hi Wendles, wow. You commented on this blog post seconds after I placed my order through them. It's obviously meant to be. :P
I'd been looking on their site for a while but I was sceptical. Someone else told me their success story with them tonight so I bit the bullet and now I just can't wait to get my stuff!

  7. Fantastic read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing a little study on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I discovered it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! http://bigholec4lodge.com

  8. This is what piece appears to have a wide selection of targeted customers. Would you market it? It all offers a decent special distort for aspects. Maybe enjoying one bona fide or even higher to supply information on is the most essential subject. supratk
