Beauty Box Comparison: Glossy Box or Lust Have It?

By now I'm sure you all know about the variety of beauty sample boxes available in Australia. I'm subscribed to two, Glossy Box and Lust Have It!, and have been since November. So far I've received a total of seven beauty boxes (4 x Glossy Box and 3 x Lust Have It!).

Number of Full Sized Products Each Box
Although the number of full sized products in each box is appealing to some people, it's not necessarily a deal breaker for me. I'd much rather receive small samples of something I love than a full sized product I'll never use. I'm sure you all know what I mean.
Box Consistency/Equality
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find similar information for Lust Have It! boxes
I've found that there is a lot of inconsistency/inequality when it comes to GlossyBoxes, which is definitely a bummer. For example, some people received Bobbi Brown mascara samples in their February boxes whilst I received an ELF eyeshadow duo. I'm not complaining, as such (okay, I kind of am!), but it happens almost every month and there's always going to be people feeling disappointed and/or 'ripped off'.

All the posts I've read about Lust Have It! boxes feature the products I received. For this reason, I don't think there's as much variation with Lust Have It!
Product Type
As you can see, I've broken down the products I've received from each company throughout the duration of my subscription (e.g. I've received a total of 6 cosmetic products from Glossy Box). As someone who loves beauty and has a beauty blog, I'm always hoping that my beauty boxes will contain cosmetics and perfume.
Packaging

Although the packaging of your subscription box isn't necessarily a 'deal breaker', it might be a contributing factor in your decision. I really like the packaging of GlossyBox. Inside their mailing box is a removable and sturdy pink box which can be used for anything/everything. I have two in one of my dressing table drawers to store my nail polish and samples I'm not currently using.

The packaging of Lust Have It! boxes, however, is quite different. The mailing box acts as the storage of the samples too, opening up on one side.
Shipping
Being from Western AIustralia, there's always a wait for, well, anything. Even things that are express posted don't arrive in a timely manner. It's so frustrating. But, with that being said, there are some postage issues.

Even when shipped a day or two after Glossy Boxes, I almost always find that Lust Have It! boxes arrived before Glossy Box.

Both boxes provide customers with a tracking ID after postage but I find that Glossy Box tracking rarely works. I have no idea why but they always say they're at the South Sydney Business Hub right up until they're delivered to me. Lust Have It! boxes, however, are always accurate when it comes to tracking ID and postage.
Customer Service
In my opinion, both boxes have great customer service. With that being said, however, I go think the service from Glossy Box surpasses that of Lust Have It!

Both boxes have high traffic Facebook pages where most issues can be resolved. Most comments placed on either Facebook pages are responded to within 24 hours with a direct and informative response.

I had issues with one of my Glossy Boxes and the customer service I received was fantastic. They weren't aware that their phone was down but, in order to contact me, one of the staff members called me from her mobile. They were able to resolve the issue quickly and I was more than impressed.
***
So, ladies, that's my comparison of the two beauty boxes I'm subscribed to. I've tried to remain as neutral as possible and, to be honest with you, I am. I don't know which box I like better as they both have their months. I do, however, know that I Love This Box really appeals to me and I don't want to pay $45.00 for sample subscriptions so, if I subscribed to them, I'll be cancelling another box.

While both boxes are great, each having their ups and down, I think that Glossy Box appeals to me a little more. I'm going to keep my subscription going for this month (to receive March's box) but then I will be un-subscribing from Lust Have It! in order to get I Love This Box. I'm not saying that Glossy Box is better, but I think it's more suited to me.

I've tried to cover all aspects of the box in this post too, so I hope it was informative for you all. Sorry this was so long and there was so many tables/pictures, but I couldn't think of any other way to get the information to you all.

With all this being said, ladies and gents, what are your favourite beauty subscriptions? Is it one I'm subscribed to or one completely different? I'd love to know. Also, was this post helpful?

Always look your best,
Sophie

  1. This is handy! I'm currently with BellaBox and LHI but was considering ditching LHI for Glossybox or I Love This Box. I think this decided it for me!

    1. Hi Chloe, I'm glad this has helped. I'm a little on the fence about BellaBox, but it's hard to judge when I haven't actually received one.

  2. I am subscribed to glossy box but only because I'd heard of it through your blog and then Spreets had a half price subscription deal which I bought. I've only received the one box so far and thought that it was beautifully presented but didn't really match the information it asked for in my beauty profile and I did feel a little deflated once I'd realised what was in my box. Having said that, it was great value if the products are something to try or already use. I'll keep going for another few months and see if the profiling gets better as it may be that they wanted to get the subscription posted out quickly once I'd signed up and they had a heap of pre-packed boxes ready to go. Keep up the good work though Sophie. I am probably one of your oldest readers but do enjoy it :)

  5. This is a fantastic post, you have gone to HEAPS of trouble to present an accurate picture! I'm a numbers person so this def makes sense and appeals to me. I've enjoyed and will be sticking with Glossybox for now until I see more positive info about the others.

  6. Much appreciated such a great amount for this data. I need to tell you I agree on a few of the focuses you make here and others might require some further survey, however I can see your perspective. Custom Boxes with logo
