Glossy Box January, 2012

My third Glossy Box arrived today, finally. Once again, there's ben a lot of confusion with the shipping this month. The box was shipped two weeks ago today, so I expected it to arrive sooner.

Anyway, it's finally here so I'll just get into it.
The GlossyBox packaging is awesome. The pink boxes are the perfect size for, well, everything and I've just started using them as drawer dividers (stay tuned for a make up set up video/post very soon!).

The box contains a card that details the products included (including an overview and the recommended retail price) as well as an introduction to the box. This month's box has a focus on inner beauty, as stated in the information card.

I only received this box today so I'm unable to review the product. Instead, I'll type out the information provided to me so you're able to get some insight into them.
NIVEA Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser - RRP $5.40 for 250mL/ $7.99 for 400mL
This box contained a 30mL sample bottle.
"Treat dry skin with this best selling product from NIVEA, our favourite classic moisturiser brand. Enriched with vitamin E and almond oil, you'll see great improvements in your skin from this product."
This is the perfect handbag sized product. Every girl needs a moisturiser in her bag and this one will fit perfect.
Sheer Cover Nourishing Moisturiser - RRP $29.95 for 60mL
This box contained a 30mL sample bottle.
"This lightweight formula is oil0free and has an SPF 15 to protect your skin from premature aging. Use under your daily makeup."
I have used the whole Sheer Cover range before but it was a few years ago so I'm eager to try this moisturiser again. This sample is the perfect size for holiday packing, so I might leave it until then. We'll see.

Sheer Cover Lip Gloss - RRP $19.95 for full size
This box contained a full size Sheer Cover lip gloss in Pink Praline.
"Add a little shimmer to your lips with this sleek gloss in Pink Praline or Iced Mocha."
I have tried this gloss once already. It provides lips with a nude pink wash which, with the right look, could be quite pretty. I'm happy I received this product in the pink shade, rather than a brown.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex - RRP $105 for 30mL/ $150 for 50mL
This box contained a 7mL sample of this product.
"Experience the miracle of beautiful skin with this innovative serum to help continuously reduce signs of ageing. For smoother, more radiant and healthier looking skin, don't go a night without it."
To be honest, I think there's been a bit of a mix up with this product. I'll explain more towards the end of this post.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color - RRP $13.95 for full size
This box contained a full size nail polish in the colour Petal Pusher and a Sally Hansen information book/pamphlet.
"This gorgeous shade glides on nails with perfection using the professional brush tip and it dries quick."
This colour is very nude but I can't wait to give it a try.
My GlossyBox also contained the following:
  • A packet of Australia Day tattoos - Although I hate the thought of temporary tattoos for Australia Day, it would have been nice to have these yesterday.
  • Two $25 gift cards to The Iconic - One for you and one for a friend
  • A $5 gift voucher to GlossyBox Men - I'm going to see if my brother in law, Maz from Maz's Musings, is interested in subscribing to GlossyBox Men. If so, this voucher is all his.

So, now for my concerns. My Glossy Boxes always take a great deal of time to arrive and I often find that parts of the box are no longer relevant (such as the 15% off voucher in my November GlossyBox that had expired by the time I received my box).

When on GlossyBox's Facebook page the other day, I read that the Estee Lauder Recovery Complex was being sent to all subscribers who were over 26 and I'm 19, turning 20 this year. I also read that all subscribers were receiving a Mirenesse eyeliner (I'm wondering if they meant in place of the Recovery Complex for women under 26), which I also didn't receive. I've emailed GlossyBox about my queries but I'm yet to hear back (it was only an hour ago though, so I don't expect a response yet). Either way, I'll let you all know what happens.

Anyway, all in all, I was fairly impressed with my GlossyBox. LustHaveIt haven't done a box this month, but I can't wait for February's! After next month I'll be reviewing both boxes and deciding which I preferred. I will then be unsubscribing from one and subscribing to ILoveThisBox. Their boxes always look amazing.

Anyway, that's my box. Comment below if you've received a subscription box of any kind this month. I'd love to read what's in them. Maybe there's one I'll want MORE than ILoveThisBox. Maybe.

Always look your best,
Sophie

  2. No this is my first, I liked it and thought for the price it was a good deal. Hopefully they have something super exciting lined up for the V Day limited edition box :)
