Glossy Box November, 2011

December 08, 2011 | , , , , , , , , ,
By now I'm sure you all know about the variety of beauty sample boxes available in Australia. I've already received one Lust Have It! box and I'm loving all the little goodies.

As with Lust Have It!, Glossy Box has a 'cancel anytime' policy which is a great way to go. Each box is $14.95 and you're guaranteed 4-5 deluxe size beauty samples.

Before I get into what was in this months box, I also want to tell you guys a few of the brands Glossy Box features. Obviously I like a majority of the brands, but these are the ones that really appealed to me.
  • Bobbi Brown
  • Calvin Klein fragrances
  • Clinique
  • Essie
  • Garnier
  • Jurlique (My Mum's obsession)
  • Marc Jacobs fragrances
Anyway, I subscribed late last month and my first box, the November box, arrived yesterday. There were a few postage related issues, unfortunately, but Glossy Box were as helpful as they could be and, at the end of the day, it's the courier's responsibility, not Glossy Box's.

Before I begin, let me apologise for the poor quality of the photos photos. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take them until about 8.30pm so I had to use artificial lighting. I hope to take better photos tomorrow but I'll see how time goes.

My Glossy Box postage box
The box inside the postage box
I know I said I liked the Lust Have It! packaging but I'm in love with the Glossy Box one! The postage box is absolutely gorgeous, as is the box inside. I plan on keeping the inner boxes as, in my opinion, they'll make great storage. Plus they're pink which is always a winner with me.

The box contains a card that details the products included (including an overview and the recommended retail price), as well as an introduction to the box.

I only received this box yesterday, so I'm unable to review the products. Instead, I'll type out the information provided to me so you're able to get some insight into the items. If possible, I'll also include my initial thoughts.
Jurlique Purely Age-Defying - RRP $90 for 50mL
The box contained a 5mL sample of the Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Ultra Firm & Lift Cream.
"This high-performance anti-aging cream is designed to help promote the regeneration of elastin, collagen and new skin cells."
I won't ever be using this product. My Mum is a massive Jurlique fan, she's been a religious user of their products for years, so I gave it to her as soon as I opened the box. I'm such a good daughter!
Bio-Oil - RRP $14.95 for 60mL/$24.95 for 125mL/$34.95 for 200mL
This box contained a 60mL bottle (one of the full sizes) of Bio-Oil.
"Bio-Oil is a specialist skincare oil that is effective for ageing as well as dehydrated skin. Also applicable for scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tones."
Since receiving my box I've used this product once. I read online that it works well on blemishes so I applied it to a pimple that was hurting. The pain has gone but I'm not sure if I can credit the oil for that. I will continue to use it on blemishes, as well as on my face occasionally, to see if it makes a difference. I've also noticed that, although it's an oil, it doesn't leave skin feeling oily and gross.

Essie Smooth Sailing - RRP $18.95 for 15mL
You all know that I'm a hardcore Essie fan so I was more than excited to see this nail polish in my Glossy Box. Although it's not exactly the colour I tend to wear, I need to get more adventurous so it's the perfect start!
"It's all about daring, sexy colour with this super-chic collection inspired by the seductive beauty of Brazil."
I can't wait to use it and I'll definitely upload photos soon. Smooth Sailing is a part of the Summer Nail Colour collection and I look forward to checking out the other colours.
Mirenesse 3D Forever Gloss - RRP $39.95 for a 14g tube
This lip gloss is 14g and, therefore, another full sized product. Thanks heaps, Glossy Box!
"Mirenesse 3D Forever Gloss is filled with botanical moisturisers and antioxidants to give you hydrated and beautifully cushioned lips day and night."
The colour of this lip gloss is absolutely awesome. The colour is super vibrant and it seems pretty durable. I just looked this product up online and read that it's a lip plumper. That it did not know!
Voulez Vous Midnight Oil - RRP $24.60 for 6x10mL
The box contained a tube of the Midnight Oil (I can't find a measurement in the photo so I'll add it tomorrow).
"Rich in natural ingredients, the warming body oil can be applied on any part of the body where a playful breath gives a tingling rush of heat."
The box also contained a small bag of delicious strawberry jellybeans. I sure hope Glossy Box continues including jellybeans 'cos they were so good!

I'm fairly happy with this box. For the time being I will remain subscribed to both Glossy Box and Lust Have It! In a month or two I'll compare boxes as a whole and make a recommendation. Until then, are you subscribed to a beauty sample box? Please share!

Please comment below and let me know what your favourite product from the box is, especially if you've tried some of them.

Always look your best,
Sophie

  1. I'm currently subscribed to BellaBox and Lust Have It, and now I want Glossy Box too! d'oh! I've had 2 BellaBoxes and 1 LHI, and waiting on another of each due next week. I like BellaBox so much more than Lust Have It, but David is paying for LHI so I suppose I'll keep them both for a while hehe. In each BB, there has been a full size lip colour - both of them are AMAZING! Look up OCC Lip Tars... So cool. Something I definitely think you'd like.
If I'm not impressed with the next couple of months of LHI, I might swap that one for Glossy Box...

    1. Yeah, I was pretty disappointed about that. In fact, I threw it out yesterday.
