Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara

December 11, 2011 | , , , , , ,
If you've been a follower of Born to Buy for a while, you'll know that I'm ridiculously picky when it comes to mascara. So far I've ruled out CoverGirl's Natureluxe Mousse mascara but decided that I can't live without Max Factor's Lash Extension Effect mascara and Clinique's Bottom Lash mascara
A while ago I purchased Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara off eBay. I wasn't expecting much from it (I'm ridiculously fussy when it comes to mascara) but I wanted to see what the hype was about.
I only started using this product after I ran out of my Max Factor's Lash Extension Effect mascara. It was the only one I had left in my drawer and I'm not allowed to buy anything! Surprisingly, I actually really like this mascara.

The wand is one of the biggest mascara wands I've ever seen in my life. In fact, all aspects of this mascara are big. The mascara tube is one of the biggest I've ever seen. Oh well, at least I won't run out any time soon! It's not typically the type of brush I like (in fact, I normally hate this type of brush) but somehow it manages to work for me.

It's important to be careful when applying this mascara. The large brush can collect too much product, making eyelashes look clumpy and completely unnatural. That sounds a lot worse than it is, trust me. Just make sure excess product is removed from the wand before application.

I find this mascara works even better with curled lashes but, well, what mascara doesn't? Occasionally my lashes clump slightly, but I use an old Max Factor's Lash Extension Effect wand (probably bad, I know..).

I have this mascara in black and the pigmentation is great, as you can see from the photo of the wand. I've read that some people have issues with this mascara clumping, but I've never experienced this (not that I'm complaining).

Overall, I really like this mascara. It's different to everything/anything I've used before, and Max Factor's Lash Extension Effect will still be my mascara holy grail, but it gives my eyelashes a more dramatic, yet natural, look that's suitable for everyday wear.

Would I recommend this product? Sure. Mascara is quite personal and everyone has their favourites, but it's surprised me and I'm sure it'll surprise you too!

Comment below if you have this mascara or if you have another mascara that you absolutely love.

Always look your best,
Sophie
